Pink Floyd 1967 LP Piper at the Gates of Dawn Mono Columbia
This is the first record I ever bought way back in 1967.
The cover is in very good condition for its age. There are no holes, tears or splits. The front is still very shiney with only a few little wrinkles in the laminated surface. The spine is as good as new. The folded overlap edges on the back are all still glued down and in very good condition. The open side is a bit grubby and there is a dirty mark - see photo. Also I was so proud of my 1st LP I stuck an initial label on the back. The back has "File under POPULAR: Pop Groups" printed in the top left corner so it's a second pressing.
The inner sleeve is the original EMI one. I wrote PINK FLOYD on it - see photo. It's a bit grubby at the top on both sides and there is a split at the edge which is approximately 5 inches long. Also a small split in the middle of the bottom edge approx. one inch long. No other holes, tears or bits missing.
On to the vinyl. There is another initial stuck on the label on Side 1. There are quite a few spindle marks on both sides. The vinyl itself has surface scuffs and light scratches on both sides.
I have played it all the way through on both sides and the good news is there are no sticking points, no jumps and it's flat. The far out psychedelic bits sound a bit tinny. I don't know if this is the shock of listening to Mono or surface noise. I turned the treble down and the bass up and it sounds a whole lot better, especially Sid's singing. "Bike" is a bit crackly.
