Pink Floyd - 'A Nice Pair' LP 1st Press SHDW403
This is a first press from 1973 - the band released this compilation of Piper at the Gates and Saucer Full of Secrets to try introduce the new found fans (after the success of DSOTM earlier that year) to their earlier work.
This is a FIRST PRESS from that year. Please be aware, many other people are selling copies on here with the 'gargling monk' on the front of the centerfold, in place of the DR PHANG's DENTAL SURGERY photo at the top right of the centerfold's front. On release, first pressings had this DR PHANG photo, but this was quickly changed to the monk, as by dental regulations, they weren't allowed to advertise. Therefore any without PHANG aren't technically first pressings.
Conditions: (in accordance with the vinyl grading system used by Discogs:)
Centerfold: EX+. only the slightest of scuff on the corner from shelf, but really excellent, no creases or tears, spin is virtually perfect given its age (see photos.)
Paper sleeves: EX-. Really nice and tidy, no creases. There is a slight split at the bottom of one (see picture), which is common of sleeves of this age - the sharp edge of the vinyl does it. However it's been neatly taped to prevent further splits. Some ever so slight rips (less than an inch in length). Only a few though - they're pictured.
Vinyl sides 1 and 3: EX+. These really are exceptional, only a trace of very very small hairlines, and only a few of them (the kind from taking out of paper sleeve, nothing deep and they're only tiny and faint.) Plays perfectly start to finish. Only the slightest of spindle marks - labels are NM-.
Vinyl sides 2 and 4: EX. These are ever so slightly less impressive than sides 1 and 3, but only by a small margin. Side 2 has a hairline on the last song, it is long BUT does not affect playback, and to be honest I didn't really notice it was there when listening, produces little playback effect. It's not deep. Side 4 has some light 'wispy' marks, the kind you associate with removing from sleeve, or if your vinyl was stacks on top of another vinyl. Does not affect playback, they're really not an issue - just noticeable under strong light. Only the slightest of spindle marks - labels are NM-.
Overall comments on playback: Plays like it hasn't really be played much at all. Some small amounts of static on run ins, not very noticeable at all. Pops are very very infrequent, and not loud. No skips. All in all, an absolutely 'nice pair'!
