Description

I am selling part of my vinyl collection which has been accumulated over the years. I am not a dealer but have realised that if I pass these records on they will not be appreciated for what they are.

So on offer here is a early UK press of A Saucerful Of Secrets by Pink Floyd, released in 1968 on the Blue and Black Columbia label catalogue number SCX 6258

THE SLEEVE

The front laminated sleeve made and printed by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd is in Excellent condition with a two very light “ thumb” creases in the laminate. The black flip cracks are clean tight and undamaged but the laminate has lifted a lifted a little on the rear lower right hand flip back ) the flip backs are laminated but the rest of the rear sleeve is not)

The rear unlaminated sleeve is clean and the black and white photos of the band are unmarked

Gilmour is misspelt “Gilmore”

The top right hand flip back has “ File Under POPULAR: Pop Groups

The spine is square clean with all letting clearly visible

There is no ringwear, shelfwear, rips or writing on the sleeve

Overall I have graded the sleeve as Excellent

The Black and White Inner is in excellent condition

I cleaned the vinyl on my Okki Nokki Record Cleaning Machine before playing it at high volume on my system ( Michell Gyrodec, SME arm, Naim pre and power amps and Bowers and Wilkins 802D Nautilus speakers in order to accurately grade the vinyl, as I bought this many many years ago and probably only played it only once before

THE VINYL

As mentioned I have played this all the way through on my equipment noted above, twice in fact, so I can give a very clear assessment of the condition

Both sides have a clean sheen with no detectable marks or hairlines

Side One

Matrix Number : YAX 3633 -1 StamperNo 1 A

The record sits totally flat on the turntable

There is no sound on run in or in between tracks

There is one light pop in the middle of track one, one pop in the middle of track two, otherwise silent

Side Two

Matrix number YAX 3634 - 1 Stamper No 1 M ( I think, difficult to be sure)

The record sits flat on the turntable

Side Two Has a few light pops on track one and two slightly louder pops but really does not affect the quality of the playback, and I mention these for completeness. There is no sound on run in or between tracks

The Blue Black Columbia labels are very clean with one spindle mark on both sides.

The labels have “ SOLD IN UK SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS SEE PRICE LISTS” and The Gramophone Co Ltd text around the rims

The song credits are to Lupus and Magdalene Music

Gilmour is misspelt “Gilmore”

Overall I have graded this album and sleeve as Excellent. In my opinion it is a great example of the early Floyd’s catalogue and now highly collectable in this great condition, many you see are wrecked or sound like they have been played with a Knitting Needle !

I have been as thorough and honest as possible with the description but if any more detail and information is wanted I would be happy to provide it

The record will be sent in a professional record mailer with two stiffeners used by mail order record shops
