I played the entire vinyl this morning. Yes you can here very slight background noise when no music playing like static sound but never louder than the music. There is no jumps or scratch sounds. Like you say, for a 50 year old record my father really keep his collection in great condition. Probably due to the fact my mother didn’t let him play them very often!! The sound really draws you into the experience of listening to a great record. Hope this helps
