Hi, welcome to my auction

After selling my first few items on eBay, I realised that my descriptions were starting to sound similar, and that in e-mail correspondence with bidders, I was giving the same additional background info, so I thought that adding this bit to my auctions would be a good way to make that information available to anyone who wants to read it.

From 1978 to 1982 I worked for Virgin Records, and during that time I acquired a large amount of music-related stuff. Some of this I bought because I was a fan of a particular artist, some of it I bought because it had rarity value or just took my fancy, and lots was simply acquired from reps or contacts in the biz. If someone asked "Would you like one of these?" and you replied "No thanks" too often, they'd stop asking, and you'd miss out on that "Yes pleeeaaassseee!!" item that you'd really love to own. Therefore, you never looked a gift horse in the mouth. As a result, I finished up with lots of disks which were not necessarily to my taste, and therefore never got played.

In the years since then, I've become a family man, had two house moves, and my interest in music has declined to the extent that some stuff that was packed for the first house move just never got un-packed and has spent most of it's life living in boxes in lofts. Even the stuff that has been played has, barring accidents, been well looked after and played on good kit such as Bang & Olufsen and Rega Planar 3 turntables.

About the Stuff I'm Selling - and Fair Dealing

I hope that the info above explains why you'll so often see my items described as mint or near mint. I'm not a dealer, all the stuff I'm selling is from my own collection.

I always have, and always will believe in fair dealing. I won't say something's mint if it's not. If something's faulty, I'll say so. I haven't sold a huge amount on eBay but so far my seller feedback rating is 100% positive and I want to keep things that way. I'd rather under-sell something and maybe lose a few bids, than over-sell it and be accused of being a rip-off artist. My feedback's obviously available for all to see, but just to emphasize the point, here are some e-mail comments that buyers didn't put into feedback.

• "Recieved Kate Bush pic today. Very pleased, mark not that bad. Will look great framed " Riggo1960 (item 3353240979), (I'd adjusted the brightness and contrast of some auction images to highlight a minor fault).

Post Sale

I keep my buyers fully informed about what's happening with their purchase. If you are a successful bidder, I'll acknowledge receipt of your payment (with cheques, I'll let you know when they're paid in and cleared at the bank), and will let you know when the goods are posted.

Courtesy costs nothing, and I would appreciate it if successful bidders would acknowledge my communications, just to let me know that they, and more importantly, the goods, have been received.

A Note About Postal Charges

Please Note : I'm always happy to combine postal charges if a bidder buys more than one item that I'm selling.

Ebay, in their wisdom, have decided to impose a fee on sellers of 10% of postal charges. They claim that it's to encourage sellers to offer free postage. It's my belief that people offering free postage are more than likely burying the postal costs in the cost of the item being sold and that Ebay's policy is little more than another example of corporate greed by a big company wanting to maximise its profits.

I'm selling my stuff because I lost my job and I need money to pay my bills. For this reason I can't afford to offer free postage (nor can I really afford to absorb the 10% fee). I only ever charge what the Post Office charges me, plus a nominal few pence to cover the cost of the packaging materials that I've had to buy.

I always send things by Royal Mail first class signed-for service.

 I bought this when it was released (in 1979 or 1980, I can't remember exactly when it was). This is the most "packaged" album I've ever bought and it's complete with all its original packaging. It comprises the following :-

• The outer sleeve.
• A heavy-duty Mastersound inner sleeve.
• The printed Wish You Were Here liner sleeve with lyrics.
• A transparent liner bag.
• The Album.
• The Wish You Were Here full colour poster.
• The Wish You Were Here full colour postcard.
• A Japanese Mastersound brochure.
• An English Mastersound descriptive pamphlet.
• A Japanese "History of the Pink Floyd" brochure.
• A Japanese Mastersound catalogue.
• A Japanese postcard.
• The original polythene outer bag.

With the exception of the external Japanese paper band around the sleeve (which got torn and has been repaired) all of the paper / cardboard items are in excellent (I think I can justifiably say "near mint") condition with no tears splits or creases.

Although it's been frequently played during its 33+ years life, the disk is still in excellent condition with no scratches, jumps or significant clicks.

Data in the run-out groove areas of the disk are as follows :-

Side 1.
