Hello, this is our very unusual example of Pink Floyds DSOTM. Its taken me some perusing and working out on Discogs as to which actual edition we have here and its something of a mongrel. The runouts as per above and from what ive attempted to photo prove this is a 1973 4th issue of the album released for sale in Portugal but still manufactured here in the UK. Whats unusual is the gatefold jacket is that of a Canadian first press by Capitol as per the info on the sleeve. Its been real head scratcher. I cannot say how this came to be as my father whom acquired the record passed away 10yrs ago. What i can say for sure is that the record has received only one play since 1983, by myself around 15yrs ago on his classic Linn deck. At the time i recalled being lost in the music as was new to me at the time, and i always loved the sound of dads system so i would say its a beautiful sounding record, indeed vs hearing a 2016 cut it certainly didnt seem as flat and dry especially in the treble but 15yrs is along time and my 37yr old ears possibly arent as good now. Inspecting the LP visually (i have no player to test it atm) reveals a disc in very good shape. The spindle shows minimal signs of play as seen in photos, the surface shows minimal signs of play with only one notable mark which i can only see as opposed to feel. Nost notably it needs a good deep clean as theres a small numer of finger marks to wash off. The rest of the package is complete, it has the 2 original posters and stickers in excellent condition with no wear to them. The main gatefold jacket is solid and undamaged onyl showing minor storage wear. The inner sleeve is a basic paper job and a static nightmare so ive put a brand new Nagaoka anti stat sleeve into the mix.
The price reflects the rarity, history and condition of the media but also the nature of the wrong jacket which holds it back a little. I am not open to offers for what is an exellent example for someone who wants to play this LP rather than look at it in their collection!
