Description

An original DSOTM copy from spring 1974. Matrix A3/B3 - just one iteration from those solid blue triangle copies. We can date this copy so accurately because it carries a known label error from this time. When EMI stepped in and changed the perimeter text from Gramophone to Emi  [Apr 1974] the typesetters duplicated 'Made in Great Britain', once in the perimeter text and once, again, at six o'clock. This error was sorted out fairly quickly. But it helps us specifically date this copy to quite an early period. You're just 12 month behind those original masters - and the pressing weight is still excellent. You will be getting some of that early DSOTM magic - at much better value than the 1st copies. The vinyl comes housed in an original cover with the left hand opening glued shut - which forms a nice stiff front panel. There are no posters or stickers - this is a bare-bones copy for the audio primarily. When on song this copy is sounding pretty damn good. We will ship in a black inner from the time. It's not the official 1st black inner - but looks similar.
Vinyl (Vg/Vg+) In decent condition and has only seen light to moderate use. A few very light marks per side. If you're a DSOTM fanatic that needs a perfectly quiet background - this copy will not deliver that so best keep on searching. If, however, you're someone who can appreciate that this is an early copy that offers excellent bang for buck - it may well be of interest. It plays VERYGOOD+ for large parts - but not exclusively.. I'm detecting a few static crackles in US AND THEM & Breathe/Run. And a couple of ticks toward the end of 'RUN'. These are typically the fussiest sectors of the LP. Nothing upfront, but it just won't play as clean as the rest of the LP in these parts. Still a great rendition providing you don't need it to play perfectly clean.
Cover (Vg) In acceptable condition. There's a fair amount of surface wear as is quite common on this title. Someone's touched it up a little in places. The aesthetic is still fairly well preserved - but it's obviously not a top end cover. The interior looks great - no major issues. A bit of edge wear which has been inked in places. The spine is looking pretty good in my opinion. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Minimal wear. One inch side split has been taped up.
