Try looking for an A3/B3 which was in use from late 73 into 74. Many audiophiles point to this, perhaps, being the best cut for DSOTM. We can date the copy you're looking at, here, very accurately due to a label error. In spring '74 the labels across the EMI catalogue were being changed from 'Gramophone' to 'EMI'. This required a slight re-arranging of the label design. In doing so the first batch of revised copies went out with TWO mentions of 'Made In Gt Britain' - clearly an error. And one that would be amended relatively quickly. But from an audio point of view this is quite a good way point because these copies carry the sought after A3/B3 cut and come a mere 12 months after the 1st pressing. Now, at this sort of price point that is well worth considering. Also note that Apr'74 copies were still solid pressings - not the flimsy nonsense that was ubiquitous in the mid-seventies. The vinyl comes houses in an original cover with a sealed left panel - which forms a nice solid front [as per the 1st issue]. We also have a blue text EMI inner which matches the aesthetic well. There's one poster -  and NO stickers. We will ship in a Nagaoka anti-static inner.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg+) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection expect nothing more than a few superficial markings per side, and one small mark early one side 1 which does sound [see detail]. A thorough testing from beginning to ending reveals a mostly NEAREXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations per side. A great player by any standard - but offered at this price to market....a relative steal. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with really good clarity. By and large a really good standard of playback with not that much background noticeable. Full bodied and detailed - you can hear you're not too far from those original masters. Not perfectly quiet. I detected just a bit of light background in  a couple of the fussiest spots per side [e.g. the run into 'Time']. Nothing up front at all and, to be fair, that's still a really good strike rate. Very few early copies ever play it clean all the way through. The one noticeable issue is during the heartbeats right at the start of side 1. The mark mentioned above causes a few ticks and a couple of clicks. These are mixed in against the heartbeats. As soon as you hear the madcap laughs [at the end of the heartbeats], and the song comes in for real, these have already disappeared and it's gone clean. A couple of minor ticks in the lead into 'Us and Them' and 3 or 4 later in the same track. Overall - a very accomplished delivery and one that gets you close to that real early DSOTM magic...without shelling out silly $$$.
Cover (Vg) Relatively solid surfaces - a bit of wear observable but nothing nasty looking. There's some edge wear apparent and someone's tidied the edges up with sharpie - but to be fair it is tidy looking. Spine exhibits only the lightest bit of wear - nothing noticeable. Nice solid rigidity to the cover - remember this is effectively a 1st issue cover. They were built much stronger that the later flimsy copies. The interior looks tidy - no issues.
Inner (Vg) Some ageing. No splits.
Poster (Vg+) Slight wear. No noticeable issues.
