Description

An original spring '74 cut of DSOTM on the UK Harvest label. A3/B3 - not the very 1st cut, but within 12 months of those original Solid-Blue Triangle copies. In fact, many of the 1st issues actually carried the very same A3/B3 matrix. Please note that label design is consistent with a spring '74 pressing. At this time Emi were in the throws of a label redesign and were substituting 'Gramophone' with 'Emi' in the perimeter text. This copy will have been one of the very 1st to carry the EMI text. How can we tell? Look at the labels and notice that there is a duplication error of 'Made in Great Britain' - it is mentioned once at six o'clock and then again at four o'clock. These copies are but 12 months behind those super collectable solid-blue triangle copies and are, in my opinion, fantastic value when you consider that they carry the same audio! The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original G&L cover. Also included is the original inner sleeve. Please note there are NO posters or stickers.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In super condition and I can vouch for the fact that this Lp has seen very light use. Why is that so important? Because this title is one of the fussiest for audio out there! Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks - nothing heavy or nasty looking. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one deviation. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Nearly all copies of DSOTM will carry some interference in that very first intro. I'm pleased to report that this copy is as clean as is humanly possible to find. Just a couple of light ticks before the heart-beats start. You can really hear the quality in the audio. Beautiful clarity and resolution allowing you to hear deep into the mix. By and large a stunning player with barely any interference. Just imagine what you'd pay for this if it had that solid-blue label!! All I could detect were a eight light clicks over the intro organ section of 'Breath In The Air' - which then fade out immediately as the guitar kicks in. A really stunning relatively near-master analogue cut at a ridiculous price...
Cover (Vg+) In great shape and has been cared for down the years. Very nice clean front with less surface wear than you usually find. There's a touch more on the rear, but it's still quite respectable. The interior looks great - no issues. Edge wear is relatively light for this title and the spine looks fine. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg) Light ageing. 2 X two inch side splits.
