The PINK FLOYD presented their DARK SIDE OF THE MOON album in concerts across Britain, about a year before the LP eventually saw release (I attended the very first show, in BRIGHTON, where the backing tapes apparently failed but having never heard it before, we weren't aware anyway! I claimed a drumstick too :>). Finally the long player came out to acclaim, and an anxious reception from patient fans!! We still couldn't have known exactly how astounding and groundbreaking this record would be in music - it stayed on the charts for a whole decade! Between listeners who were slow to find out, or reticent to buy progressive psych 'hairy' music - and the earlier buyers who were replacing their worn-out copy...... we bouyed the chart placing for ten years. Okay, so everyone had a copy! But VERY FEW had the FIRST issue pressings. I'll bet that HARVEST RECORDS decided to change the lable design after they saw the first run, because the silver text is somewhat difficult to read over the original silver outlined, and sky-blue filled pyramid - but this actually became a significant marker of when the LP disc was first made. What I have for auction then, is the ORIGINAL FIRST LABLE ISSUE WITH FULL BLUE TRIANGLE / PYRAMID! The VINYL for HARVEST RECORDS SHVL 804 STEREO is in OUTSTANDING EX condition, playing really well with only light dust-sound at the very start and end (the run-out final groove is crackly). Surface scuff only, but visible. NO skips or pops, the sound is the beautifully produced best, it really still stands as the finest in production quality, and especially on vinyl, the wonderful music leaps from the grooves! The rich sound, brilliant arrangments and powerfully delivered instruments make this the APEX of audio, for psychedelic and contemporary classic progressive music! There are no posters or stickers, but I sometimes see a set available on eBay (and they can easily be obtained, as they came in every stock copy). The cover is in VG++ condition, with just the lightest storage wear. Having encountered this rare edition before I now know there were variations in covers for the left-side opening; There a flip-back inside-tuck sealed cover, an open-ended one simply glued closed, and an open-ended with NO glue (this one). It depended on the particular cover printers factory, as I believe there were several! The INNER SLEEVE is also the BLACK poly-lined original with lable-window, unique to this album.
