LISTEN BEFORE BIDDING
Listen to the whole album before bidding.

This is the original 1st press of Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side Of The Moon' with the solid blue prism label.  This is from my own personal collection and a very reluctant sale of this legendary masterpiece.  I bought his new at the time of release and have always kept the album in a plastic sleeve which has helped preserve the condition of the cover.  The cover is still in excellent condition overall but because of the dark cover design it does show up some minor creasing and scuffs and some small fraying on the corners.  The album comes with 1 original poster and 1 original 'permanent' sticker.  The LP still has the original black poly lined inner with patent numbers and made in Great Britain text.  The vinyl has the 1st press matrix numbers A-2, B-2.  I have looked after this album and only has a few very light marks probably caused by sleeve removal.  Playback is still superb with virtually no surface noise except for the odd light click or crackle in places.  If you are intending to make a bid please play and listen to the audio of the album to judge for yourself.

Note: This album consists of genuine first press/release contents that came with the record.  No later press covers, posters, stickers are used in this sale as I have seen sold elsewhere.

Album Cover notes:
Front and back covers are still in excellent condition, some minor creasing/scuffing (kept in a clear plastic cover)
Inside gatefold still in excellent condition
Black poly lined inner, good condition, some creasing, split half way down one side
Poster, excellent condition, unused
Sticker, excellent condition, unused
No writing on cover or labels
Minimal fraying on edges of cover
Spine undamaged

1st press detailed contents:
Gatefold cover with black/blue tint
One opening for album, one opening folded closed
Heavier vinyl with A-2, B-2 matrix
Solid blue prism label with Gramophone Co.Ltd printed on top outer rim
Black poly lined inner sleeve with original text : Patent Nos. 112555/1072844 and 'MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN'
1 x poster
1 x sticker with 'permanent' printed on back

Vinyl notes:
I have played this album back in it's entirety at a reasonably loud volume on a pair of high end Sennheiser headphones to evaluate its condition.

Matrix Number:
SHVL 804 A-2
SHVL 804 B-2

A-side:
Virtually no surface noise, excellent playback

B-side:
Virtually no surface noise, excellent playback

In general the vinyl is in excellent condition.  It looks very clean with the odd very light surface mark.  Virtually no surface noise, excellent playback.  No skips/jumps.

I tend to be over critical of a records condition as it is not my intention to misrepresent what I am selling.  I want the buyer to feel what they have bought is as described although not everyones opinion of its condition will be the same as mine.

If you have any doubts or questions about this record, please ask me and I will try to be as helpful as I can.

Notes (supplied from another source)

Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, London between June 1972 and January 1973.
This is the original form of the release, it has solid blue prism LP picture labels, later forms have an empty prism. It has a gatefold sleeve, with one sleeve glued shut. Originally came with 2 posters and 2 stickers.
There are 2 systems for track numbering on the release. I have used the one on the actual labels (a I to I) in the submission but the cover uses 1 to 5 numbering for both A and B sides, (so Breathe is "a II" on the LP label but "2" on the cover, see images).

The following is a guide to identifying all the elements that make up the rare and much sought after first pressing:

1. The label has a solid blue prism. Subsequent pressings have a blue glowing inner edge prism with the centre black.
 2. 'The Gramophone Co.' text is centred on label above prism.
3. A2/B2 matrix in deadwax of run out groove.
4. Thick heavyweight vinyl believed by some to be the 'finest' and most true encapsulation of this historical recording as the first pressing was pressed direct from the original masterplate. "These 1st pressings were straight from the masters and nothing even gets close to them today. They play with a deep clear warm clarity and have to be heard to be believed!".
 5. There is a distinct bluish tint/tinge in the black ink of the cover.
6. Gatefold sleeve is 'folded in' and factory sealed at one end. [To identify the original the cover must have the 'folded in' flap and not just be two sides 'glued' together].
 7. Inner sleeve is a distinctive polythene lined die cut black semi matt paper with white printed text stating 2 patent numbers bottom left [112555/1072844] and 'MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN' bottom right.
