Description
On offer.....an exceedingly rare pressing of one of the most popular albums of all time....Pink Floyd's 1973 masterpiece, 'The Dark Side of The Moon'. The copy in this listing is a fairly early UK pressing (probably from 1973) but unusual in that the record labels are not smooth to the touch but fully and heavily "textured" with a "deep-grooved" inner ring. Due to its enormous success, EMI/Harvest had to have some copies pressed at other plants to meet demand. Where precisely this one was made I can not say. What I CAN say is that the audio is sensational.....deep bass, clear and detailed highs, and distortion free. Having heard dozens of pressings and digital releases over the last 40 years, I can honestly say this one is among the very best. The fact that renowned mastering engineer Harry Moss's initials (HTM) appear [etched] in the dead wax may be one of the reasons why.
Gatefold Jacket: Excellent(-).....a very nice example. Minor corner and edge wear keep it from being Near Mint. Posters and stickers are missing.
Original Inner-Sleeve: Very Good.....some age discoloration....an inoffensive and hard to notice seam split at the bottom edge. Original [1973] "Dark Side of The Moon" sticker affixed to one side.
Record: Very Good+......nice gloss to both sides....some very faint hairlines can be made out under strong light. Both textured labels have spindle marks but are fairly clean with just some minor foxing. Record has decent weight with playback revealing detailed highs and stomach rumbling low end. The few moments of imperfection heard did not detract from my enjoyment in the least. A truly wonderful listening experience.
Matrix Numbers: Side 1 ZSHVL - 804 - A - 7 HTM. 1 Side 2 ZSHVL - 804 - B - 6 1
