Description
This is a genuine UK second issue transitional pressing — one of the rarer and most desirable early variants of this legendary album. These were only produced for a very short time during the changeover from the first pressing to the later represses, making them significantly scarcer than standard copies.
Key identifying features of this desirable transitional pressing:
• Iconic blue triangle labels with the earliest “blue outline prism” design
• A-3 / B-3 matrix in the dead wax
• Original “The Gramophone Co. Ltd” rim text
• Rare navy blue gatefold sleeve with the original front sticker (comparison photo included showing it against a later black sleeve)

It’s held up really well for a 53-year-old transitional pressing. The artwork remains bold and the famous prism design is crisp. There is honest age-related wear — light scratches, scuffs and some edge wear — but no splits and no writing. The navy blue colour clearly stands out from later black sleeves (see comparison photo). It still displays beautifully considering it’s as old as it is!

The record is in amazing condition for its age.
It is glossy and plays beautifully — crystal clear with excellent sound quality. There are a couple of visible scratches, but they do not affect playback. As expected with a record this old, there may be the occasional light crackle or pop in quiet passages, but overall it sounds fantastic and is a real joy to listen to.
This is a proper piece of rock & roll history — a short-run transitional second issue with the rare navy blue sleeve and original front sticker. These early variants are becoming increasingly hard to find complete, and this is easily one of the most desirable early pressings of The Dark Side of the Moon you’ll come across.
