Description
I have had this disc in my collection since new - It has only had very little play. The sleeve has the slight blue tinge to it and the label shows the famous solid light blue prism.
SHVL BC4 A-2 and SHVL BC4 B-2 matrix stamps appears clearly in the runout area.
The disc has been play tested throughout several times. The Vinyl has been carefully cleaned.
On side 1 there is a tiny amount of static surface noise on the opening heartbeat intro for a few seconds. The track is lovely and quiet as soon as the first vocals are there.
On the run is perfect throughout ( still sounds amazing!)
There are a few little pops and crackles in the first part of the intro to "Time" before the alarms go off. The rest of the track is fine.
"Great Gig in The Sky" is perfect throughout with just a couple more small pops on the slow fade out.
Side 2 the intro to Money is quiet and perfect. There some signs of play and some visible surface marks on the vinyl, mostly towards the end of Money. Nothing deep, and they hard to hear on this part of the track. They do not cause any skips, jumps or sticks.
The initial intro to "Us and Them" is all quiet then, there is a slight click that can be heard for around 45" seconds then the track is perfect throughout from the time the Sax and vocals kick in.
All the quiet parts of "Brain Damage" are quiet and perfect.
"Eclipse" is perfect throughout, there is some slight surface noise static as the heartbeat fades at the end of side 2.
This first edition was initially pressed by The Gramophone Co. Ltd., you can see The Gramophone Co. Ltd. on the label at the 10 o' clock position. Then from July 1st, 1973 by its legal successor, EMI Records at the same plant.
The International E.M.I. catalogue number 1E 064 o 05249 appears in small font and parentheses on the cover rear.
Inner sleeve is a distinctive polythene lined die cut black semi-matte paper with white printed text stating 2 patent numbers bottom left [1125555/1072844] and 'MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN' bottom right.
There is a small amount of shelf wear on the top and bottom left hand corners of the cover and the 4 edges as is clearly shown in the photos. There is also a small rip on the back cover again there is a photo showing that.
It has a gatefold sleeve. The right front opening of the gatefold cover is sealed with the two sides glued together. Mentioned as variation 1 of three sleeve options on the first pressing.
There were several variations of sleeves, posters and stickers, my copy only ever had the two stickers and the 1 poster with it.
The sleeve contains both the original poster which is unused and excellent and also both stickers are present and in good condition, both are intact with a slight crease on the top left corner of each. They are good examples (see photos)
Having looked carefully at the condition of many similar discs on offer this seems and an extremely fair price.
All in all this is a good all round copy with a very enjoyable play experience.

Graded by Record Collectors Magazine. Very Good (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects is acceptable
