Description
Pink Floyd - Obscured By Clouds Vinyl 12" LP
UK
1972 Harvest SHSP 4020 SHSP-4020 A-1 / SHSP-4020 B-1 Vinyl NM very clean, sounds incredible, only the lightest trace sleeve scuffs, shiny gloss thick vinyl like only EMI did. Labels EX++ I'd call these NM but for extremely light spindle marks which certainly don't appear obvious - you have to look for them Sleeve etc EX+ there really isn't anything but a tiny amount of wear to the very extreme corners. a really nice clean example - this sleeve was always delicate...Scroll down for more pictures and full description!
scans are always of the actual item for sale - apologies for slightly dusty and smudgy scanner - I assure you the record is clean! click play to hear a sample taken from this item.
Original UK pressing.
Absolute 1st press - in fabulous condition.
Matrixes A-1 / B-1 with '2' in mother stamper positions on both sides. (Never seen a '1' don't believe there is one).
The matrixes are also the larger machined type which was superceded in early 1973 by a slightly more compact font making this LP one of the last to use the larger version (see it on scan).
The labels show the 'Gramophone Company' wording in both the production credit and the rim lettering, with a boxed EMI logo - only the first issue had these.
Original round-cornered sleeve, with pinched spine-ends, printed by Garrod & Lofthouse has the essential 7206 code that marks it as the June '72 printing and confirms the sleeve at least to be an original 1st issue.
The disc is in exceptional condition, the audio is gloriously rich and clean, as 1st pressings from EMI usually are, if only all records sounded this good CD wouldn't have stood a chance.
This sounds good.. but don't take my word for it, listen to the sample. I can do, but have not tampered with it in any way.
The sleeve is in crisp condition with only the vaguest edge wear / fading and that's being picky. One tiny kink near the top of the spine (see it on scan). You'll go a long way to find a copy of this sleeve in as good condition, the rather flimsy textured card used was prone to damage but this one has survived pretty much intact. Original Harvest company inner, poly-lined sleeve is also included, and it's just about the only thing that has suffered - if you can call it that - with a little age yellowing. Since these sleeves have been known to leave some residue on the vinyl, I have put it in a new soft-lined sleeve for protection. No damage as yet.
This LP was recorded during breaks from the DSOTM sessions - and has a similar feel to some of the dynamics of Meddle although a very different musical feel. Often overlooked in the Floyd catalogue, this LP never really sold well and although there are many later copies floating about, only a handful of these 1st pressings survive in good condition let alone this exceptional clean condition.
So there you go. Good luck if you bid. You won't be disappointed.
This will be mailed (as all my vinyl is) in a sturdy cruciform reinforced box. I'll put the sleeve in a protective vinyl outer too. Even so, I would recommend using a premium shipping method to ensure safe arrival.
**This record has been cleaned professionally on a VPi HW-17F wet-solution/vacuum record cleaner. LP in new soft-lined anti-static inner sleeve.
