Description
Original First UK Mono Pressing without File Under Pop on rear sleeve. There is no need for me to explain how rare this classic 60s psychedelic masterpiece is. Condition is as follows:
Sleeve: Generally VG/VG+ with NO writing on it. Front is laminated as are the three flip backs. Ernest Day & Co sleeve. NO FILE UNDER POP so one of the earliest pressings. Front has usual creasing to the laminate especially round the opening side. Corners are 'bumped' at top and bottom of opening and there is some ring wear. Rear is on the whole very good with no writing. Laminate is lifting a wee bit at the top left opening. Spine is clean and no wear and wording is clear. See detailed photos for condition.
Vinyl: Generally ranges from VG to Ex. Side 1 Matrix is XAX 3419-2 and is also stamped 1 on the left and what looks like R on the right. With the exception of Flaming and Pow R. Toc h (see below) there are some hairlines and minor marks and apart from the usual surface crackling here and there it sounds great. The exception is as mentioned above on tracks 4 and 5. There is a scratch (looks like dropped needle to me) from half way through Flaming to about half way through Pow R. Toc h which causes of Flaming a minor pop but is more pronounced at the end of the scratch on Pow which causes the needle to either stick or jump once. This does not happen every time I play it but please bear it in mind when bidding. I have a Project turntable and my son has an old Dual one and it doesn't always jump or stick on his (maybe cause you can adjust the weight better?).
Side 2 Matrix is XAX 3420-1 and is also stamped 1 on the left and M on the right. Apart from one scuff mark through Chapter 24 (doesn't cause any issues) I would grade this side VG+/Ex
Labels: Side 1 has K T tax stamp and some spindle marks but would grade Ex. Side 2 has some ink writing which is pretty discreet (see photo). More spindle marks than side 1 so would grade G/VG because of ink writing.
Inner sleeve: original 'pink' EMI one with adverts inc Piper etc. 1 1/2ins seem split to one side and a bit of staining. Would rate VG/VG+
Any questions please ask. Photos are pretty good representation of record with exception of scratch which is difficult to photograph. I will post First Class Signed For and well packaged. If you require Insurance please contact me and I will get a quote.
