Description
Pink Floyd: Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, released on the Columbia Label (black/blue) in 1967. This is the rarest version of this iconic album, much sought after, and in Very Good condition, probably Very Good +,. It has been in my own collection since its release, and has been well looked after.. For those that are interested in such detail, the catalogue number is SX 6157 and the matrix identifiers are XAX 3419-2 and XAX 3420-1 It is a genuine first pressing, identified by the absence of "File under pop music" in the top corner of the back of the sleeve (see photo). Even better, it is the Mono version, with the lovely rich Mono sound still very much in evidence.
The vinyl has a few very minor marks and minor surface scratches as you would expect from an album nearly 50 years old, but nothing whatsoever that affects the listening quality, which is still fantastic after all these years. There are no jumps, no sticking, no clicking, virtually no crackle, just wonderful mono sound, which is of excellent quality throughout the album.
The album cover is also in very good condition, especially for its age. There is a split at the top rim of about 3 inches, but otherwise no rips or tears and nothing written on it. The laminate is still in good condition, just some minor creasing, and the spine is still intact and in good order, with the artist name (written as "The Pink Floyd") still crystal clear. The only other "faults" are some very minor scuffing at the corners a very small mark where the price tag once was, and a small mark on the back (you can see these in the photos), but I am being really picky.
The inner sleeve advertises other albums. I know it's old because the albums advertised are in "old" money, but I couldn't say for sure that it is the original.
All in all, a truly excellent copy of this brilliant album. It will be sent by Royal Mail tracked and signed for, and packaged securely in a record mailer + bubble wrap to ensure safe delivery.
