Pink Floyd Rare UK LP Acetate Dark side of the moon MONO VG 1970's Prog Rock
Rare UK Acetate released in 1970's. There is no label information, Cat. Numbers or Matrix numebrs on labels. This acetate is in MONO.
This is an extremely unusual item and one that I have researched and shared on many platforms to try and get some accurate information on what it might be. Found in a charity store in around 1985 in Australia amongst a bunch of mostly UK pressed LP's there is no record label information anywhere on the labels or catalogue numbers or matrix numers visible. Was the acetate actually made for a radio station for promotional use on AM radio? Most AM Radio stations in the 1970's broadcast eclusively in MONO. Record companies created a specific "fold-down" to ensure the album sounded acceptable on AM radio and in other MONO playback systems. If this isn't an official Record company acetate who in the 1970's or early 1980's would be making a MONO (bootleg) acetate of the album and for what purpose? Anyway you look at it, it is a very rare, possibly unique piece of Pink Floyd memorabilia expecially as by 1973 there were definietly no MONO albums being pressed....Acetates were never meant for continual play and the sound starts deteriorating from the first play and degrades with each further play. I have played it only once to clarify that yes it is in MONO. Although the acetate looks quite clean there is a lot of surface noise over the album already with starts and ends of sides being the worst. I have graded at VG condition.

Wrapping method: All records are sent in stiff cardboard mailers then wrapped in brown paper and sealed around edges with brown packaging tape. Records are taken out of sleeve to avoid seam splits and ring wear.
