The Wall is the eleventh studio album by Pink Floyd. Released as a double album on 30 November 1979, it was subsequently performed live with elaborate theatrical effects, and adapted into the feature film, Pink Floyd The Wall.

As with the band's previous three studio albums The Wall is a concept album, and deals largely with themes of alienation and personal isolation. It was first conceived during the band's 1977 In the Flesh Tour, when bassist and lyricist Roger Water's frustration with the spectators' perceived boorishness became so acute that he imagined building a wall between the performers and audience.

The Wall was released in the UK on 30 November 1979, and about a week later in the US. The album topped the Billboard charts for 15 weeks, and in 1999 was certified 23x platinum. It remains one of the best-selling albums of all time in the US, between 1979 and 1990 selling over 19 million copies worldwide. In this sense The Wall is second only to 1973's The Dark Side of the Moon.

ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING:

Yes – brilliant! -  TOP AUDIO sound quality throughout!

The Wall is a highly complex, theatrical collection of music, and is also a relatively sensitive piece of vinyl, and hard to find in clear audio condition. Worn copies can have a lot of surface sound even on musically complex and busy tracks like 'The Happiest Days of our Lives  .' This copy has Crystal clear undistorted audio, with Super clear sound and absolutely minimal background static. There is certainly no dominant  interference, and NO loud pops or clicks or Distortion. It really sounds great and plays with great sound separation and clarity!

Superb sound, every track has been tested and I could find no obvious sound blemishes.  Wonderful TOP audio, there is NO distortion, NO sticks or jumps what so ever, and virtual silence between the tracks.

This vinyl is an absolute gem!  The audio sings out with silence in the run ins and quiet areas. Great music with great clarity, and so hard to find with this type of sound.

The music jumps out, with definition and clarity, the vocals which come through with tremendous power. Its the same with the bass guitar and drums, whilst the guitars come through crisp and clear. The tonal quality make this a sensational pressing. With the clear and extra loud First cut engineering giving the audio a vibrant sound which cannot be beaten.

A great all round example of this classic vinyl. This is a great Audio pleasure and I would have to give the Audio at least an EXCELLENT PLUS to NEAR MNINT grading.

Staggering first (stereo) mix, unlike the re-issues which lack the impact. A great all round example of this great vinyl.

THE RECORD - EXCELLENT++

Visually immaculate, this is a superb set of glossy vinyls. Deep clear grooves that can only be found on the original pressings, this vinyl has been barely played. The record has great shine, with NO scratches and virtually NO hairlines. Inspected under a spot light, side 1 has a couple of light marks which do not affect playback. There are barely any paper removal marks, a couple of light whispy lines only, that you really have to squint to see. This is a stunning example.

VINYL TESTED FOR ANY SIGNS OF WARPING:

Yes, NONE visible what so ever when tested be sight and on a moving turntable.

THE COVER – NEAR MINT

Original 1st PRESS issue UK Gatefold cover in light cream cover and purple / pale blue two tone brick outlines. The cover design is one of Pink Floyd's most minimal — a white brick wall and no text (the logo and band name came presented on a clear vinyl sticker). Waters had fallen out with Hipgnosis designer Storm Thorgerson several years earlier, when the latter had included the cover of Animals in his book Walk Away Rene, and The Wall is therefore the first Pink Floyd album cover since The Piper at the Gates of Dawn not created by the design group. The LP's sleeve art and custom picture labels by cartoonist Gerald Scarfe tied in with the album's concept, with each of the four sides showing the eponymous wall in various stages of construction, accompanied by characters from the story.

The Front Cover shows a  brick wall that is cream coloured, not true white, with the brick outlines in purple / pale blue. The cover is made from a single sheet of wrap-around cardboard with the seam across the inner top edge of the cover. The bricks on the front cover are not aligned right to the bottom of the cover. Second press covers were made of two sheets of cardboard, with seams at the top and bottom of the cover.

A TOP example, with NO ring wear, virtually NO corner wear, no marks or scuffs.

THE LABELS - NEAR MINT

Virtually flawless labels, with a couple of light spindle traces only. NO wear around the spindle hole! Amazing examples of this rare classic press.

THE INNERS

Heavy cardboard UK press inner sleeves with rounded corners and a nine-inch thumb notch. With the catalogue number of the specific record listed on a single line in the lower right corner of the inner sleeve, (SHSP 4111) along with the catalogue number of the album (SHDW 411), pressing (OC-158 63410), and the record number (SHSP 4111).

EXCELLENT + condition, NO wear at the tops. Side 3/4 inner has a 2" split at the bottom. Otherwise, Crisp and Clean.

STICKER INSERT

First pressings were Issued with a transparent sticker, either stuck on the front cover or as an insert, that says (in black Scarfe lettering): "Pink Floyd The Wall." These stickers were nearly always lost, making this highly collectable. EXCELLENT PLUS condition and held safely in an extra envelope!

RARITY

Original UK PRESSINGS of THE WALL in any type of condition are becoming scarce. The vinyl is so often played so much, heavily marked, scratched, with noisy, poor and distorted sound. Any A2 examples with a record in this type of condition, is a true rarity, and getting rarer by the day. Finding a complete press in near immaculate little played condition makes this a very rare opportunity.

A FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY TO OWN AN EXTREMELY RARE PIECE OF MUSICAL HISTORY

GREAT COVER WITH NO SEAM SPLITS, NO TEARS, NO WRITING, NO STICKERS.

INNERS WOULD BE NEAR MINT BUT FOR THE 2" SPLIT ON SIDE 3/4 SO EX++

GREAT VINYLS WITH NO LOUD CLICKS OR POPS, NO JUMPS OR REPEATS - GUARANTEED!

VINYL

Large format art work covers with the original sound and mix unique to vinyl and of the highest quality audio. Vinyl record have always been loved and have become a great investment opportunity, with prices soaring over the last ten years, making classic pieces a great financial as well as a cultural investment.
