Original Master Recording 1-017, 1979.  Not UHQR issue. Original series of MFSL releases. Thin, very high quality vinyl pressed in Japan. Not 45 rpm, not a double album, not 150, 180 or 200 gram. No digital steps in production.

NOT Collector quality- a decent listening experience. Price based on comparison of Discogs and Ebay prices and then discounted quite a bit due to condition. Depending upon final bid, this could be a bargain.

Cover and materials: See photos. Cover is in decent shape with a very slight rear ring from the disc on the front, wear on edges and spine plus just a little fading on the spine (the yellow tab at top shows this the most). Inside of foldout is pretty good - a little dull, some wrinkles at adhesive but no obvious damage. Protective insert missing. Original inner sleeve has normal wrinkles and no dog-ears. Newer inner sleeve is recent.  No other materials included.

Label: Intact, no rough edges on spindle holes. There is a black discoloration the label I have on several of the older Mobile Fidelity releases. I only have this on a few older Mobile Fidelity releases and suspect it has something to do with older record clamps/ Nitty Gritty cleaning clamps. It may clean off or improve with lighter fluid.

Vinyl: I do not sell vinyl with skips, jumps, extensive groove damage or significant warps. No serious scratches or defects, shiny surface. 

Note:  All vinyl evaluations are subjective- below is how it sounds to me on a dialed in VPI Prime with 3D printed tonearm and Soundsmith Zephyr MK III cartridge (contact line diamond stylus). Sitting position is in equilateral triangle with the speakers. You may hear the album differently than I based on your equipment and ears.

This is a 45 year old pressing of an album I bought used and have played a good deal. Describing it’s condition is a bit of a challenge as the music swings from quiet to dynamic and downright loud so much. In all honesty, it is not much noisier than my 2016 US version, which came that way. But by Mobile Fidelity standards, it has noise.

 If you are OK with “warmth” or “character” you’ll think it sounds great.  

In the louder portions of the music background noise is generally not present, but as there are so many quiet sections and interesting transitions, noise just shows up more than on other albums. An example of this is the heartbeats at the very beginning of the album, where noise is pretty noticeable. At the time of the opening crescendo and drums/guitar/keyboards starting, background noise is not a significant issue. 

No really loud pops, or scratch noises across grooves. A single medium pop in “On the Run.” A few ticks/pops in “Brain Damage” stand out more than the rest of the album but still not too distracting. 

Overall a nice playing album that I hope will find a new home.

Price is set at the minimum I will accept with no reserve. I think it is very reasonable and takes the  condition into account. 

I ship for the exact shipping charge. Album will be cleaned and well packed in protective sleeves with album not inserted in jacket. If there is extra room in the box it will be taken up with bubble wrap or additional cardboard.
