Description

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon

1973 - Harvest Label - SHVL 804

Here is a chance for you to bid and win an original issue of the classic LP The Dark Side of the Moon. This is the original first issue of this LP as you can see from the pictures, the labels have the solid blue triangles and not the later pressed outline triangles. Being a first issue there are differences to the later issue that should be present. The first is that the original gatefold sleeve is DARK BLUE in colour and NOT black. This is the dark blue sleeve, the front part of the gatefold is a NON OPENING sleeve. This was never an open part of the sleeve and is glued shut. I have seen copies that have the first opening glued shut but still look as though it has opening edges. THIS DOES NOT look like that, you can clearly see that the picture of the front sleeve continues into the opening indicating that this was done at the factory when released. The sleeve is in great condition, it has minimal edge/spine wear, there is a small patch of rubbing on both sides near the prism, but overall the sleeve is in excellent condition.

The original black inner sleeve is in excellent condition.

The labels are in great condition, there some light spindle marks that show the previous owner has carefully enjoyed playing this LP.

The Matrix numbers are -

Side one - SHVL 804 A - 2

Side two - SHVL 804 B - 2

The playing sides are both in brilliant condition, there are no visible scratches just some light hairline scuffs and a couple of very very light marks that do not interfere with the playback.. I have played it through with no problems at all. There is a light crackle in between tracks but nothing that spoils the enjoyment of this LP.

To complete this original package it comes with the two posters that are in excellent condition and look like they have never been on a wall. There are no creases or pin holes unlike so many others that i have seen over the years.

Finally the two original stickers are both in near mint condition.

This LP will be 35 years old next year and i'm sure there will be renewed interest in it again. Here is a great chance to get hold of a complete original first pressing of one of the most iconic albums of all time. A true investment piece and a great talking point. Make your bid count and don't lose this oppertunity.
