Almost all of the promotional release of the period were released in the Mono format. Nevertheless, the promo copies of Pink Floyd The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn can be found in both, Stereo and Mono, formats. As a rule, the promo release of the album isn't different from the commercial release except for one important circumstance. These promo copies had the very early 1st matrix numbers, the hybrid A1 / B2 number, or just like this copy, the analogous B2 / B2 stampers. Another important feature of the promotional DJ radio station copy is a large Tower's "PROMOTIONAL RECORDS" rubber ink stamp at the top of the back cover. The bottom of the back cover contains the "2" number, which serves as the identifier of this copy being pressed at Capitol Records, Scranton, PA pressing plant. Original 1st print Tower Records solid red-brown with the large "t Tower" logo, "Stereo" banner and catalog number ST-5093. This promotional copy contains two rare misprints on the labels and back cover, incorrectly indicating the A2 and A3 track titles as "Pow R. Toch" and "Take Up My Stethoscope And Walk". The full matrix numbers contain the "IAM in triangle" machine stamp on each side, which identifies the pressing by Capitol Records, Scranton, PA pressing plant and read as follows: Side 1 - ST1-5093-B2 △IAM Side 2 - ST2-5093-B2 △IAM.

It's very rare to find a promotional copy of this album in such a great condition. The frequent use of these copies at radio stations very often affected their condition, which resulted in the worn out covers and vinyl. However, the cover of this copy is graded as Excellent. It's super clean and only has some very light shelf wear. The cover doesn't have any splits, writing or tears, with practically no ring wear, perhaps only just a very light hint of it at the top right corner of the front cover. The corners and edges have some very light barely noticeable occasional scuffing. There is a very light diagonal crease along the edge near the top left corner of the front cover, but I assume it might be a factory fold. The album comes with the original white Tower Records inner sleeve and is in Near Mint condition. I grade Side 1 of the glossy vinyl as Excellent Minus as it only has a couple of very light surface scuffs, most likely from the original paper inner sleeve, with Side 2 being in Very Good Plus condition, because it has a few very light non-feelable surface hairlines and scuffs from the inner sleeve. The clean labels are in Near Mint Minus condition as they don't have any spindle marks, with Side 2 only having some very light scuffing. The vinyl has a fantastic crystal clear audio barely with any background noise at all.
