Description

PINK FLOYD - 'THE PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN'  
This early 1st UK MONO pressing of Pink Floyd's 1st LP dates from its initial August 1967 release.

Black & Blue Columbia label: SX 6157


Both labels include the 'Sold in UK.' text and the 'KT' purchase tax code is present in the centre of the side 2 label.

Matrix numbers: XAX 3419-2 & XAX 3420-1

Stamper codes: 1/O & 1/O (identical)

Housed within a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' . Pease Note ; Cover Sleeve is SCX 6157 with no 'File Under' text on the upper flipback. Not Sure if this cover comes out from original release but you decide.


Complete with its original black & white EMI advertising inner-sleeve.

visible spindle marks are found around hole, but no worn or no writing, no tear

Visual: VG

Light Marks are spread over on both surface under descrete fluorescent light. Mostly are surface rubs and hair lines are easily found on both sides. I can see a mass of rubs at the end of track 3~5 that could be factory defect but not sure.

No warps

Playback Quality: EX

I have check all through tracks with MONO cartridge(Denon PUC-3 on Oil Damp Grey Clone). In spite of surface condition, the quality is unbelievably very clean and wide spread deep warm sound of Original Deep Groove copy. Ticks are coming off with very limited numbers all through the end. Even I can not find repeated noises.No skips. No distortions. Apart from that and a trace of normal vinyl background in some of the quieter passages, there really is little else to fault which will not disappoint.

Cover: EX

A superb clean & unblemished example which retains a clean-gloss front laminate which bears light ring wear and light wear on every corners towards the front opening edge & few small edge wrinkles, but no heavy creasing or any other significant signs of wear.

All corners are free from any bumps or bruising. The exposed and unprotected rear panel is clean with just a few light scuffs but is otherwise free from any further blemishes or wear, no writings on it.

All flipbacks are undamaged but just normal look.

The spine is clean and white with full lamination and wording with age wrinkles of lamination.

Inner-sleeve: EX

Clean & flat with a few light storage wrinkles but no tears, writing or missing
