Description
Hello! This auction is for the third issue of Pink Floyd's 1979 double-LP, "The Wall". Not too much needs to be said about the music - it's Roger Waters's opus about the alienation of fame, the breakdown of a marriage and pondering the loss of a father who died in WWII, all over four album sides.
This is the third UK issue, which is housed in a glossy white gatefold sleeve, unlike the earlier issues, which have the matt off-white coloured sleeve. This copy does have the transparent title sticker on the front of the sleeve. It is in VG++/EX- condition. There was a small seam split, which looks to have been repaired (see photo). The opening edges are nice and sharp and the spine is square and solid. This issue has the printed bar code on the back side of the sleeve. The inside of the gatefold is intact, no damage and the colours are nice and bright.
The inners are in EX- condition - they are the later, fully-square ones, as opposed to the rounded-corner sleeves of the earlier issues. They are still made of heavy cardboard and are solid, with no seam splits. The lyrics are printed on both sleeves and they both have notches in the centre to help take the record from the sleeve.
The records themselves are in EX+ condition - lovely sheen to them and nice playback. Maybe a few sleeve scuffs, but they're not really noticeable. Matrix numbers are: SHSP 4111 A-4U, SHSP 4111 B-11 & SHSP 4112 A-6U, SHSP 4111 B-11. There are stampers on Side 1 and Side 3: TML-X and TML-S. The labels are in EX condition - a few very light spindle marks and all of the lettering is legible and present.
