Hello there, come on in and welcome to the auction!

As you can see from my 100% feedback, I sell with complete honesty and reliability.  Above all things I am a record collector and music lover.  I only sell records that I would want to receive. I know well the disappointment of receiving an over-graded record that turns up two weeks late.  That is not the service you will receive here, so bid with total confidence. I don’t sell a lot of records because I spend a lot of time carefully finding, grading and listing them and do not like to rush this process, as many sellers must do to be able to sell 100 records a week!

I am mostly a collector of old time music, pre-war blues and folk, so buy job-lots that often contain rare records that aren’t to my taste so to ebay they go!

Here we have an original Near Mint 1st press of the classic Floyd masterpiece The Wall! 

It’s a truly beautiful and complete package with stunning outer and inner sleeves and Near Mint vinyl!!

That’s right!  It’s one of the earliest presses I have ever had the fortune of listening to and it is in simply stunning condition!

Just wait till you see the matrix and stampers, it’s a world first!!

Following in the footsteps of their previous albums, The Wall is a concept album - specifically, it deals largely with the theme of isolation from one's peers. The concept was largely inspired by the band's 1977 tour promoting the album Animals, with regards to an incident where Roger Waters' frustration with the audience reached a point where Waters spat in the face of a fan who was attempting to climb on stage; this, in turn, led him to lament that such a wall exists. With its significantly darker theme, The Wall featured a notably harsher and more theatrical sound than their previous releases!

Release Information: Original issue. Band members are not listed on the inside cover. Cream cover and purple brick outlines. No bar code on cover. (Only 1st press).

Front Cover: A brick wall. The Wall is cream colored, not true white, with the brick outlines in purple-blue-grey. The cover is made from a single sheet of wrap-around cardboard with the seam across the inner top edge of the cover. The bricks on the front cover are not aligned right to the bottom of the cover. (Only 1st press)

Back Cover: A brick wall. There is no bar code on the back cover.

Inside Cover: The credits on the inside cover do not list the members of Pink Floyd. It only says "Words and Music - Roger Waters." (Only 1st press)

Cover Sticker: Issued with a transparent sticker on the front cover that says (in black Scarfe lettering): "Pink Floyd The Wall." (Only 1st press)

Inner Sleeves: Heavy cardboard inner sleeves with rounded corners and a nine-inch thumb notch. Original pressings have just the catalogue number of the specific record listed on a single line in the lower right corner of the inner sleeve.

Text around the top edge of the label starts at 7 o'clock and says:

 All rights of the manufacturer and of the owner of the recorded work reserved. Unauthorised public performance, broadcasting and copying of this record prohibited. Made in Great Britain. EMI Records (U.K.)

There are many people selling 1st press “Walls” that have the matrix A3/B2/A3/B3 or some variant of that order, but only the VERY 1st presses have the A1 matrix as follows.

Not only does it have the very rarest of lowest matrix, but the mothers are the lowest I have ever seen (and on record), making this very vinyl the closest you will ever get to that studio sound!

To find a first press The Wall is rare in any condition, but this is simply superb, the sound quality is sublime from start to finish!

Sleeve Condition.

The 1st print unlaminated gatefold sleeve is in superb condition!  There are no rips, tears, splits or writing to mention!  All the edges are straight and crisp with only the very very mildest shelf wear to corners.  The 1st press sticker is in mint condition with no rips etc. The colours are as vibrant as they were on the day of release.  The inside of the gatefold is in near perfect condition!  The rear of the sleeve is as good as the rest of the sleeve, looking fantastic, with no ring wear to mention! You won’t find better!

Inner Condition.

The 1st press card inners are in near mint condition, with no writing, stains or splits to mention!  All the edges are nice and sharp and it holds the record perfectly as it should.  There is the 1st press thumb cutaway to the top which reveals the tan inside that is unique to 1st presses.  There is only 1 small nick to one edge (getting anal here!)!  As good as new!

Label Condition.

The first press Scarfe drawn labels are in fantastic condition.  There are no rips, rubbing, writing or stains to mention.  There is no centre hole damage at all.  Even under a strong light, there is only one invisible spindle to be seen!  It’s clear that this record has only been played once or twice!

Vinyl Visual Condition.

The record itself looks beautiful!  It still retains its factory shine and lustre with no scratches or warping at all.  Under a strong halogen bulb only the very occasional wisp can be seen more like invisible removal marks! It’s simply stunning to see the Wall in this condition, it really is!

Vinyl Audio Condition.

The record sounds superb from start to finish!  There are no jumps, skips or distortion at all!!  On all frequencies it sounds simply superb and just jumps off the vinyl.  It’s a sharp crystal sound and is such a joy to hear!  I heard only minor minor static on the occasional run in.  The opening quiet prelude music to In the Flesh is the test for The Wall, so often it is ruined by crackle or heavy static but it’s just crystal clear audio with only the very mildest of static to be heard!  This really is your last stop for this record!
