Pink Floyd Vinyl - Double 1969 LP "UMMAGUMMA"

Nicely preserved and original UK copy of Pink Floyd’s  1969 release of “UMMAGUMMA”".This album received a host of mixed reviews at the time and even today I have to say, it takes some getting into unless you have Pink Floyd running in your bloodstream like I do.This is from my long standing private collection.

This double album is presented on the harvest /EMI Recording label - Catalogue number is SHDW 2. Stereo.

This is a particularly rare album.

About the album:

The Outer  Sleeve:

Remains in its original factory issue laminate gatefold opening format, bearing only the most minimal signs of ageing - typically to the outer edges but minimal considering the albums age, as the album sleeve is opened there are several pictures in black and white of the band and again, given the passage of time these are marginally discoloured - nothing at all untoward. (please see photos).There is also a very discreet name that has been written towards the top right hand side of the inner cover - unnoticeable at a glance.

There are no rips or tears on the LP outer covers.

The Inner Sleeves:

 Are the factory pressed standard white internal covers. Both are  in good clean order. Again, no rips, tears or writing 

The Vinyls:

Presents on all four sides with an excellent clear glossy sheene.

Side One:

A close visual examination under bright lighting conditions reveals one or two very minor/light surface marks that are actually of no concern to me, I have played this side on two separate occasions - and on my audio equipment the sound reproduction is of very good quality. As with any vinyl - even new one can detect the occasional crack and pop consistent with hard to detect surface marks or dust - particularly on quitter sections of the album and on intro's play off's, with the right cleaning cloth these can be eradicated.(please see photo's).There are one or two quieter sections of music on this side - but in my view the listening experience is unspoilt. As stated, I have played this side twice and at no time did I detect any skipping, jumping or sticking.

On the play-off section the matrix numbers which are etched on read as  SHDW 1 A - 3

The label is in clean order.

Side Two:

Again, a close visual examination under bright lighting conditions of Side 2 also reveals one or two very minor scratches/surface marks. I have played this side also on two occasions and on my audio equipment the sound reproduction is of very good quality. As with any vinyl - even new one can detect the occasional crack and pop consistent with hard to detect surface marks or dust - particularly on quitter sections of the album and on intro's play off's, with the right cleaning cloth these can be eradicated.(please see photo's).As with side one there are one or two quitter sections of music whereby pops and cracks are audible in the background (mostly faint in content)

Again,at no time did I detect any skipping or jumping throughout the entire playing period.(please see photo's)

On the play-off section the matrix numbers which are etched on read as SHDW 1 B - 3  Also the word /letters "GAT" are etched on.

The label is in clean order. 

Side Three:

Again, a close visual examination under bright lighting conditions of Side 3 also reveals one or two very minor scratches/surface marks none of which are of any concern to me. I have also played this side  on two occasions and on my audio equipment the sound reproduction is of very good quality. Again, as with any vinyl - even new one can detect the occasional crack and pop consistent with hard to detect surface marks or dust - particularly on quitter sections of the album and on intro's play off's, with the right cleaning cloth these can be eradicated.(please see photo's).As with sides one and two there are some quitter sections of music whereby pops and cracks are audible in the background (mostly faint in content), the listening experience in my view is unspoilt.

Side Four:

Again, a close visual examination under bright lighting conditions of Side 4 also reveals one or two light scratches/surface marks.Again, I have also played this side  on two occasions and on my audio equipment the sound reproduction is of  good quality. Again, as with any vinyl - even new one can detect the occasional crack and pop consistent with hard to detect surface marks or dust - particularly on quitter sections of the album and on intro's play off's, with the right cleaning cloth these can be eradicated.(please see photo's).As with sides one, two and three, there are one or two quitter sections of music whereby pops and cracks are audible in the background (mostly faint in content), the listening experience in my view is unspoilt.
