An almost impossible to find still fully sealed unopened therefore UNPLAYED ORIGINAL 1st PRESSING of this iconic FLOYD Masterpiece. Wish You Were Here, RELEASED IN 1975,
This is the 1st American Pressing which was an import to Australia in 1975.
These ALBUMS CAME IN JET BLACK SHRINKWRAP (Import Dark Blue/Black) WITH TINY PERFORATED AIR HOLES on the back, NO STICKERS , BUT SALES WERE SO POOR BECAUSE NO ONE HAD A CLUE WHAT THE RECORD WAS OR BY WHO IT WAS, SO STICKERS OF THE NOW FAMOUS ROBOT HANDSHAKE WERE SENT OUT TO RECORD SHOPS TO BE STUCK ON THE PLAIN BLACK SHRINK COVERS, TO MAKE THEM MORE IDENTIFIABLE. The American import had a very dark Blue to Black plastic shrink wrap and is believed to sound as good or better than the UK pressing. I have three different pressings. I have never played this one so I cannot compare.
I have personally owned this album from it's purchase date from (I am pretty sure) GASLIGHT RECORDS in Melbourne.
It is one of the first pressings, IT REMAINS UNOPENED AND I WOULD BE A FOOL TO OPEN IT SO I CANNOT TELL YOU THE MATRIX NUMBERS WHICH WOULD HELP IN INDENTIFING EXACTLY HOW EARLY IT IS. THIS WOULD BE ENTIRELY UP TO THE DISCRETION OF ITS FUTURE OWNER.THAT IS IF HE OR SHE WISHES TO OPEN IT. MY ALBUMS ARE ALL KEPT IN AIR TIGHT SNAP LOCK PLASTIC BAGS AND ARE STORED AT A CONSTANT TEMPERATURE IN A VERTICAL POSITION. The cover and shrink plastic is in perfect condition no damage it has tiny slits/air holes in the back of the the plasic shrink wrap cover which can only be seen on a certain angle. I have not seen an original 1975 American import 1st pressing like this online for a years especially in this condition. This is like it was the day I purchased it.
