An original 1st press of WYWH on UK Harvest from 1975. Matrix A1/B3 - 1st possible iteration. Well worth seeking out the very 1st copies - they were pressed heavy unlike a lot of the later copies. When buying WYWH it is well worth taking care - particularly with those black bags they arrived in [originally]. Copies offered on-line with a black bag should show proper visuals of the actual cover underneath. If they don't I would argue you should avoid those like the plague! Also, be careful with the appearance of the white cover on-line. Many copies will 'Look' really good - but there is a tendency for cameras to bleach the white areas in photos. This then leads to an image of what looks like a perfect copy - but in reality is probably just distinctly average. Pay attention to the photos - but READ the description very carefully and be wary of this. I can assure you that the photos presented here are a very accurate representation of the REAL state of the cover. Anyways...moving on...The vinyl comes housed in an original pinched spine cover. We also have the three corner die-cut inner sleeve and the promotional serrated edge postcard. And I would argue the preservation on this copy is well worth a close look if you're a PF fanatic.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In marvellous condition and has only seen very light use. It is so so important on these PF titles that you start with a very nice clean and lightly used copy. And that is just the start! I can only make out a couple of incredibly slight marks per side - absolutely nothing that will enter the audio spectrum guaranteed. A thorough test from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with very slight brief deviation in one spot per side. It is almost impossible to find a 100% perfect 1st of WYWH, but you can get very close with a bit of luck and good fortune. Most certainly one of the fussiest PF titles out there - many many copies are not going to live up to the task after 47 years. But this example is amongst the best few examples I've witnessed. Very very clean signalled. And it is an absolute pleasure to witness this album as intended from a clean 1st. All I can detect was a touch of what I would describe as 'presence' briefly in the intro to Machine Pt5 [the synth pulses]. And toward the end of the swirling wind section on side 2. And even then this is all slight and in no way intrusive. Other than that precious little to take issue with. A cracking original copy by any standard.
Cover (Ex) So, anyone who truly is a proper collector will know only too well how difficult it is to find this cover in top order. As I warned you above - be wary of black plastic covers and photographic trickery! What you see here is the REAL DEAL. This cover is almost totally unaged - nearly all covers will have aged to a greater or lesser degree by this point in time. So, that places it squarely into the remaining top 5% cream of the crop. Do expect some extremely slight handling use the sort where you kind of have to look at it up close. There is a light indentation on the rear in the sand to the left of the guy - all minor. This cover definitely has the wow factor. Hardly any sign of edge wear and the openings are sharp and firm. The spine is 100% intact with pinched ends. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Would be difficult trying to go better than this example.
Inner (Ex-) Again seems to be largely devoid of ageing. One slight blemish. The start of a 1c.m. bottom edge split [hardly shows]. Very nice overall.
Photocard (Ex-) Perfect from the front. Unaged on the rear - but surface has come away slightly at the top edge.
