Description

The PINK FLOYD

MEDDLE

THE very first vintage pressing of this monumental rock classic

SHVL 795 Released Oct 31, 1971 in US by Harvest/Capitol and in the UK on Nov 5 , 1971 by Harvest/EMI

Many reissues were made but this is the very first pressing of this awesome release, with the earliest matrices A – 1 U and B – 1U , coupled by the earliest MOTHER stampers  1  RW and 1  AW  .

Audio

At least an EXCELLENT aural delivery and is truly one of the best examples ever heard of this phenomenal release. Each tone is delivered through the clearest of channels ,with only the lightest static during some of the quieter parts, but remains distant. The stereophonic perspective is sensational , projecting an extensive range of dynamic sound and will be very difficult to match . NO clicks or ticks or any other blemish on sound to report so a very classy piece of vinyl .

Vinyl

The earliest first press so very thick and chunky, a genuine first pressed heavyweight and a pleasure to hold and to view . Only one or two extremely light surface visible on either side which are NON audible  and a glorious sheen, retaining its original jet black  coloration, with a glorious sheen .Later reissues were thinner, with narrowing grooves ,resulting in a lack of audio punch and dulling of the tones . The thicker pressing gives the channels a much wider birth to generate magnificent volume and sound penetration . A magnificent example of British engineering and talented craftsmanship and was built to last , generating an exceptional  aural delivery that shadows its later reissues . Excellent visual .

Garrod & Lofthouse  gatefold sleeve and textured inside and outside throughout , confirming the very first issue of this infamous release. Later issues were not textured and it is extremely difficult to locate a decent gatefold as they were notorious for heavy edge/spinal wear and ring wear. This gatefold sleeve is better than most as only light rubs are observed on lower edge and the centrefold is excellent + with no damage to report . P index on top right face . So not heavily worn and hardly any ring wear visible . The coloration is vivid and strong with an ultra clean finish and boasts no tears or rips of any kind. Excellent and very rare to find like this .

Labels

Yellow/green Harvest with Gram. Co. text on outer rim which confirms the very first and earliest UK press . Beautifully maintained with NO mottling . No peeling. NO rips or tears. NO graffiti of any kind. ONLY an extremely light spindle trace and are in EXCELLENT condition.

An excellent example of this genuine vintage first press and make no mistake, very difficult to locate in this sensational condition, complete with original harvest inner sleeve .

A fine exhibit and of true investment quality.

One of the best examples of this monumental Floyd classic, with an exceptional aural delivery ,one of the best that I personally have ever listened to .

Absolutely awesome !
