Description
Up for bid is a VERY rare LP by Pink Floyd - "Dark Side Of The Moon" and is an ORIGINAL 1973 UK 1st pressing on the ULTRA RARE 1st press "Solid Blue Triangle" Harvest label cat # SHLV 804 a2/b2. THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND! THIS IS ONE OF PINK FLOYD'S RAREST AND MOST SOUGHT AFTER LPs EVER! WHAT MAKES THIS LP REALLY SPECIAL IS THAT IT IS THE "EARLIEST 1st PRESSING EVER MADE- WITH SOME MAJOR DIFFERENCES THAT ALL LATER PRESSINGS DO NOT HAVE. I WILL EXPLAIN THE DIFFERENCES.
FIRSTLY THE MATRIXES ON THE RECORD ARE THE EARLIEST 1st PRESS MATRIXES ENDING IN A2/B2 (LATER ONES DON'T). SECONDLY THE LABELS ALSO HAVE THE CORRECT EARLIEST 1st PRESS "GRAMOPHONE COMPANY" LABEL EDGE TEXT (LATER PRESSINGS HAD THIS CHANGED TO "EMI RECORDS" TEXT INSTEAD. THIRDLY THE RECORD LABELS HAVE THE ULTRA RARE EARLIEST 1st PRESS "SOLID LIGHT BLUE" TRIANGLE ON BOTH SIDES, WHICH WAS IMMEDIATELY CHANGED TO THE COMMON "TRANSPARENT" TRIANGLE (WHICH APPEARS ON ALL LATER PRESSINGS!) AS THE TEXT WAS HARD TO READ AND DIDN'T MATCH THE COVER. LASTLY THE COVER IS ALSO A 100% GENUINE EARLIEST 1ST PRESS COVER TOO, BEING DARK BLUE INSTEAD OF THE LATER BLACK. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT INDEED BECAUSE ONLY A TINY HANDFUL OF THE EARLIEST 1st PRESS COVERSONLY WERE EVER PRESSED WITH A DARK BLUE COLORED COVER BEFORE ALMOST IMMEDIATELY CHANGED TO A JET BLACK COVER INSTEAD. THESE COVERS INFACT ARE EVEN RARER THAN THE ACTUAL SOLID BLUE TRIANGLE RECORDS THEMSELVES, AS THE COLOR ON THE COVER WAS CHANGED EVEN BEFORE THE 1st PRESSING RUN ENDED .
The labels are in VERY GOOD condition with NO writing, NO tears, NO sticker marks and only light wear and no spindle marks
The ORIGINAL THICK 1st press vinyl which came directly from the master tapes has a sound quality far superior to ALL later pressings. This vinyl has a few scratches, and hairlines throughout. There are a few surface marks. This visually grades VG. I have not played it to guarantee playback quality. As commonly known with this 1st pressing, it was badly mastered from new and this is one of the reasons why the matrixes were changed so quickly. The song "Money" on most 1st pressing has skips and jumps
The original 1st press black inner sleeve is in good condition with a few splits.
The ULTRA RARE EARLIEST 1st press "Dark Blue" gatefold cover is in great condition with just some rubbing to the cover (much better than most), some ring wear, slight corner wear, and is very flat looking. This cover must grade VG+.
THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND AS A 100% GENUINE EARLIEST 1ST PRESSING WITH SOLID BLUE TRIANGLE AND BLUE COVER, SO DON'T MISS OUT ON THE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN THIS OUTSTANDING LP.
