The Plantation Singers were an original African – American mixed gender gospel group active during the 1930s. Their music was originally recorded on  Varsity records in December, 1939 and released in 1940. In the early 1940s, Joe Davis bought the rights to their songs from a defunct Varsity records and then published this box set.
