Description
For auction is an early copy of Please Please Me by The Beatles LP UK Mono 3rd or 4th Press depending which Beatles disk website you trust.
The Beatles Collection site indicates a 3rd Press, in the variant without the extra 33 1/3 on the label. There is also no ‘Recording first published 1963’ on the label.
The very low Mother/Stamper numbers - 1RM and 1RA - suggest this record was likely pressed very early and probably around the same time as 2nd Press records.
The other strong indication of a genuine third Press is the original First Press cover, with the photo credit beginning under the second S in the word Songs.
Cover is at best a VG - as has a lot of corner wear and some edgewear, but no tears or writing. Sellotape residue on rear of cover.
Record is VG visually with scuffs and hairlines but no deep scratches. However, like many of these early presses, the audio quality is better than the looks suggest. Plays very well with minor crackling and just a couple of clicks that I could hear. Definitely no skips sticks or jumps.
Labels - generally VG apart from faint name written on side 1.
