The most sought after LP on the planet, but unfortunately this is not the gold lettering/black label version. Nevertheless, it is still a fine copy that plays well, the treble is crisp and clean, the bass is full and undistorted. Sounds magnificent on the stereogram I use to assess the surface condition.

Minimal wear & tear, little creasing/spine damage

The playing surface is clean & sparkling, with no audible scratches  

The vinyl is clean and sparkling, there is some evidence of spindle rubbing but there are no audible scratches, the audio quality is fantastic.

Both outer and inner sleeves are a little brown round the edges, but this item is 50 years old next year and has been well cared for, if it were pristine it would be a bit of a worry.

The KT purchase tax mark can just be seen on side 2, upside down above the album title either side of the spindle hole. The matrix stamps are XEX 421-1N and XEX 422 - 1N respectively.

The inner sleeve is an authentic period EMITEX poly-lined bag with care advice.One side of this inner has a slight tear at the top of the label cut-out, but the inside itself is intact and clean.

I use the Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide, shown below for your reference, for grading the sleeve and vinyl separately. Sturdy thick card mailers are used for each single/double album. Multiple albums are boxed and bubble wrapped.

Record Collector's Grading System

Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover or any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packing might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite notable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc.

Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad: The record is unplayable or might even be broken and is only of use as a collection filler.
