Description

Wow - what a cool vintage jazz find!  This is Presenting Ernie Henry - A Remarkable New Jazz Talent on the blue, deep groove Riverside label RLP 12-222.  Features Ernie Henry on Alto Sax along with Kenny Dorham, Kenny Drew, Wilbur Ware and Art Taylor.  Recorded August 23rd and 30th, 1956.  Disc itself is excellent.  There are a couple of lateral surface mark / rubs that travel through "Checkmate" on Side 1 that do not impact play at all.  The track sounded beautiful.  Other than the aforementioned rubs, the disc has the look of a VG++ / NM- disc with high gloss.  Does have a fair amount of surface lint that should be expertly cleaned.  I do not have the appropriate equipment for this.  With a proper cleaning, this disc should play darn close to NM-.  Hard to find these original deep groove Riversides in this kind of shape.  Comes in original glassine type inner sleeve with some edge tearing as these were quite fragile.  Outer jacket is beautiful as well - super clean with virtually no wear!  One tiny white sticker on the reverse and a very lightly stamped "APPROVED C.O." to upper right reverse.  Laminated front of jacket is gorgeous with no issues noted.  Overall, this one is a beauty.  Don't let it get away!  A good value!  Good luck to all bidders and enjoy!  (All my albums are shipped in sturdy record mailers by USPS Media Mail)
