The Pretty Things - S.F. Sorrow

Columbia - 1C 062-04 004

1969 German pressing of the Pretties masterpiece, on the blue Columbia label. Both sides of the vinyl have the first press matrixes ending in A1 / B1. Also, the cover is laminated, which is not the case for later pressings with these labels.

German stereo pressings of this LP are renowned for their superb sound and brighter mix. There’s certainly a strong arguement that the early Gernan pressings are better than the UK Columbias.

Condition

Labels: EX Both labels are in superb shape with no writing, stickers etc. Very little visible spindle wear

Vinyl (visual grading): EX- The record is in superb condition with full gleaming shine and just some light marks visible under strong light. There is some gentle unevenness at the record’s edge, but this has zero effect on playing quality. Any turntable will handle this with ease - both of mine had no trouble. The music plays completely unhindered.

Vinyl (sound grading): EX The outstandingly mastered stereo mix sounds superb here, playing with pristine clarity throughout. Surface noise is confined to very occasional soft ticks only, there is no annoying groove distortion and of course no jumps or sticks.

Cover: EX Superb, just some small laminate wrinkles visible in the black border. The unlaminated inner spread looks superb. There are no seam splits or wear, and the spine laminate is 95% uncracked with all the print readable underneath. The opening edge is sharp and straight.
