A highly collectible European vinyl edition of Prince – The Black Album, issued by Warner Bros. in 1994 with the distinctive peach-coloured spine text.
Few Prince albums have a history quite like The Black Album. Originally prepared for release in 1987, the project was withdrawn before its intended release and became one of the most famous unreleased albums in popular music, circulating for years through bootlegs before finally receiving an official commercial release in 1994.
Musically, it is Prince at his rawest and most uncompromising, moving heavily into funk with tracks such as Le Grind, Cindy C., Bob George, Superfunkycalifragisexy and Rockhard in a Funky Place.
Original 1990s vinyl copies have become increasingly sought after, particularly the European limited edition identifiable by its understated black sleeve and peach-coloured spine lettering.
Condition
Vinyl: VG++
A particularly clean example retaining an excellent glossy finish.
Only very light signs of previous handling and play are present, placing the record comfortably above a standard VG+ example and just short of a full EX grade.
A very strong copy of this increasingly difficult-to-find Prince pressing.
Sleeve: EX
The minimalist black sleeve presents extremely well with only very minor signs of storage or handling.
The dark finish remains clean and attractive, while the distinctive peach-coloured spine text remains an important identifying feature of this limited edition.
Overall, a very well-preserved copy.
Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description and condition assessment.
