The Prince Lasha Quintet
"The Cry!"
Original thick vinyl MONO pressing from 1963 on Contemporary Records, catalog #M3610. Made in USA.
The vinyl is close to near mint, there are a few noticeable needle lines but they seem to have no affect on play, only a very light bit of background static mainly heard in the quietest areas like bass solos/between tracks etc., no loud ticks noticed. The cover is laminated and there is light ringwear into the lamination (does not show up in the photo because of the bright sunlight). There's some old tape residue front and back but no splits and almost zero edge wear. One corner is dented.

Featuring Sonny Simmons on alto sax & English horn, Gary Peacock on double bass, Gene Stone on drums and Prince Lasha on various saxes. Legendary west coast multi-reeds hero Prince Lasha played with Ornette in the early fifties when they were both living in Texas and collaborated with pre-ESP sax wonder Sonny Simmons in Oakland as early as 1954, helping to invent what would become known as 'free jazz'. 'The Cry' is one of their earliest recordings from 1962 and both saxists play immensely inspired throughout! Prince Lasha recorded a half dozen fine or so records throughout the mid-seventies, with little or none currently available on cd.
