Description
Up for sale is a fantastic, basically mint example of Propaganda's classic high-tech dark-pop hit record, "A Secret Wish" - one of the brightest jewels in the producer crowns of ZTT founder Trevor Horn and genius disciple Stephen Lipson. This is one of the defining albums of the period - fabulously intricate, massive sounding production giving a hit-friendly, ahead-of-its-time sheen to catchy but moody pop material inspired in equal parts by Depeche Mode (the band, not the mag), Japan (the band, not the country), German expressionism, sado-masochism and industrial aesthetics. Up there with TFF's "Songs from the Big Chair", Talk Talk's "It's My Life", Depeche's "Some Great Reward" and Simple Minds "Once Upon A Time" with albums that defined 1985 synth rock.
This is a mint copy of the Music On Vinyl 2LP release of the album. Disc 1 has the original LP remastered from a high rez digital source (typical MOV process - you expect it to sound dreadful, and it really works). Disc 2 has a wealth of bonus material - Side 1 is the "Do Well" non-stop cassette single version of "Duel", combining multiple mixes of the song available elsewhere on 12" singles into one continuous 20+ minute end-all-be-all version (a common ZTT practice at the time - they also did this with both the other Propaganda singles and all releases by FGTH and the Art of Noise). Side 2 has hard-to-find remixes of "Dr Mabuse" and "P Machinery", the other 2 singles extracted from the album at the time.
The 2 slabs of 180g vinyl are like new, having only been played once and ultrasonic cleaned. they sound huge and perfectly clean.
The whole thing is presented in a stunning looking thick glossy gatefold sleeve, complete with an 8 page booklet. The whole package looks absolutely mint, including both of the original antistatic inners. The original MOV sticker is applied on the outer PVC sleeve, not the record itself. I am the first owner from new and selling this because I own 2 copies of it. Plus other multiple copies on both vinyl and CD :).
