Riz Ortolani Brutes And Savages Orig. US pressing on the obscure Florida Label Interfusion (L 36840) from 1977. Very strange soundtrack to an Australian movie about savage rites. From impressive cover artwork (which shows some painted tribal warrier on front) this soundtrack looks promising …. your suspicion is confirmed 100 % when u put the needle on the record: “Overture” & “Reprise” of the Title Theme are uptempo Funk Beat tracks with a hypnotic bassline, wah wah madness, pounding conga rhythm patterns and dramatic strings passages in typical library style. Essential soundz, very dark and funky! more groovy guitar & piano riffs, even synth moments on “Festival Dance Of The Llama Sacrifice” and not to forget the little but great “Eden Disturbed”: hard guitar driven percussion shuffle beat supplied by a psychotic electric piano line make this one sound like a Mandingo-style Psych Funker! Overlooked, very rare and not featured on the famous blaxploitation site, although this OST definetly belongs there.
