Biography :

Sfinx was founded in Bucharest, in 1963. Over the years, their history and their music direction was given by two of the best Romanian rock musicians, Sorin Chifiriuc and Dan Andrei Aldea.

Their Dan Andrei Aldea period, a great guitar musician, really in love with a more Ethno-Folk sound started with their first EP’s and their first 2 LP’s : Lume Alba and Zalmoxe.

Lume Alba is a collection of songs and the song “Om Bun”, even now, after over 30 years is considered by many the best Romanian folk song and each year, the Romanian Folk Festival opens with all the competitors and the musicians singing this song. Unfortunately, after the release of Zalmoxe, Dan Andrei Aldea left Romania for Germany. He works there as a music producer and from time to time visits Romania. He left the band because the Romanian did not let the Zalmoxe LP to be released as he planned it to. From 2 LP’s they made it a 1 LP release. We are talking of the 70’s , Romania, a very communist country.

As a fact. The Zalmoxe LP, was released with a 4 members photo ( Dan Andrei Aldea among them ) on the cover of the LP and, after his departure, with only the remaining 3 members on the cover and nothing regarding Dan on the cover. They just left a blank white space where Dan’s photo was on the first release … crazy commi stuff. After that, Sorin Chifiriuc replaced Dan Andrei Aldea a member of Sfinx and he really changed their sound to a much modern sound. He was a fan of groups like Cocteau Twins, Pretenders, Clash and Stranglers ( Intr-un Cer Violet is a cover after Golden Brown ). Their sound was very new for the Romanian Rock Scene and I remember they ruled the Rock Scene from 1980 to 1985.Unfortunately, Chifiriuc is well known as a very weird and hard to please guy so the band splitted up, ending a great band.

After 1990, the band reunited as Sfinx Experience, with 2 Females on vocals but the magis was forever lost.

GRADING SYSTEM :

PERFECT ( AS NEW ) (P)

Absolutely perfect in every way. Often times unplayed - would be denoted as such. I use this grade very sparingly, and only when a record truly is PERFECT.

ALMOST PERFECT (AP)

A nearly perfect record. The record shows no obvious sign of wear. A sleeve has no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling.

An LP jacket has no creases, folds, seam splits or any other noticeable similar defect. No cut-out holes, either. And of course, the same is true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves, and the like.

Very Good (VG)

Shows some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches. Slight warps that do not affect playing are OK.

The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but is should be barely noticeable. The center hole is not misshapen by repeated play. Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turn-up corners, or a slight seam-split.

Good (G)

Good does not mean bad! A record in Good condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping, but it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear.

A jacket or sleeve has seem splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object. But I usually don't put on Ebay the LP's I find in this category.

Bad (B)

This could be told only about covers. The covers I'm saying this about ... I think it’s better if you considered that there is no cover available.
