Description
This is Ptolomy Psycon's extremely rare 10" album "Loose Capacitor". Released in 1971 in an edition for just 50 copies, this is something of a holy grail for psych / prog collectors. I bought this approximately 20 years ago from a private collector. The condition is very good. The vinyl has no scratches or jumps, and plays perfectly. The label is in perfect condition. There is some slight surface noise, but nothing unusual for a record of it's age. If it was properly cleaned I have no doubt it could be perfect.
The cover has some slight discoloration slightly, and there is a small (maybe half inch) rip on the back. Nothing unusual given the age of the item, see the pictures for more details. The inner sleeve is in very good condition, some minor signs of aging but that's it.
Considering the age of this record I'd say that the condition is great. It obviously was not heavily played before I bought it, and I played it once to copy it. I'm sad to let it go as it's such a rare record. I've only seen it come up for sale on auction four times, and three of those were when a member of the band sold off his extra copies. Most copies of this one are in the hands of collectors, so this is rare chance to own a copy of this great little album.

"Ptolomy Psycon practically defines the raw UK underground of the early 1970s. I suppose the 99 count Holyground albums, or the hyper rare Dark album can give you an indication of the recording quality. But the music is definitely influenced by the upcoming progressive rock movement, especially Hawkwind, Steel Mill, Jethro Tull and King Crimson. The AC also offers "Ptolomy Psycon has lots of that UK psychy proto-prog flavor. This was released as a 10" EP, in an edition of only 50 copies with homemade covers. The band were from the Birmingham area, and were supposedly all students in the same school (around 16-17 years old, I think). In fact, all the "orchestral" stuff you'll hear on this was apparently done by their school band, who they hired to play on the recording!"
"You usually don't expect much from the records pressed in the noble quantity of 50 copies, but this is a pretty nice mini-album (originally, a 10" LP with a playing time of 20+ minutes), firmly in the British psych-into-prog style of the late 1960s. Amber Soundroom wanted to reissue this one in the early 2000s but sadly this never materialized. As such, this is one of the rarest and most expensive UK private pressings."
