Description
Up for auction is a very hard to find deluxe copy of Public Nuisance "Gotta Survive" double LP, released in 2002 on Shadoks Music (040). Ugly Things magazine did a great piece on these guys a few years back, but to sum it up this was a band from Sacramento, California in the 60's that recorded two whole albums worth of material which subsequently sat in the vaults until about 10 years ago. Unbelievable combination of garage punk, British freakbeat, and psychedelia, the very extensive liner notes explain why this project was scrapped before release (spoiler alert: it was Mansons fault!). This includes the 45 of their earlier incarnation, Moss and the Rocks, and the insert with lot's more info in teeny tiny font that covers both sides. The heavy weight vinyl is flawless on both discs, the 45 is also flawless. This release was a limited edition of 600, and this one is numbered 281. As you can see in the photo with the number, I handled the records while wearing latex gloves so I wouldn't get my greasy finger prints all over them. I read the aforementioned Ugly Things profile and was intrigued, so a month or so later when I found this in my favorite record store (sniff, RIP Fallout Records!) I snapped it up. I did play it a couple of times but I have a large collection and this sorta disappeared into there and I forgot about it until I re-discovered it the other day while looking for choice items to sell. I cleaned the stray bits of static cling dust off (while wearing the latex gloves) and then visually inspected all 4 sides for any sort of scuff. I found none, 4 sides look like new. I don't think I ever played the 45, in fact I'm not sure if I even knew that was in there until now, but I inspected that too, with the same results. The only flaw I could find on this entire deluxe package is that despite the heavyweight cardstock the spine is splitting (see photo). I recall that it was doing that the day I brought it home, but it hasn't gotten any worse since then. I think that the 45 slipped in there is what's causing that so I will ship that outside of the jacket to prevent it from worsening. Thanks for looking and happy bidding.
