THIS RECORD IS ENCODED IN THE DYNAQUAD(DY)/ELECTROVOICE STEREO-4(EV-4) FORMAT.**
IT IS VERY EFFECTIVELY DECODED (GIVING BRILLIANT RESULTS!) BY USING THE SQ (Phase Matrix) SETTING ON YOUR EQUIPMENT!

The cover has very light initial surface/ring wear visible, when held to the light...however, the edges/corners show a range of wear from light to heavy, with potential splits...I wish I had a better cover...this is the best of a bunch that I have...for some reason it is very (very) hard to find an original cover in anything resembling NM condition.
The record looks almost new at first glance, but on closer examination, does show some very light superficial scuffs, none of which I heard. It plays super clean...very close to new...but because of the visual defects, I'd have to say it is a 9.5(+) of 10.
I am using a DUAL 505-2 (ORTOFON OM10 at 1.5g), with a SANSUI QRX3000 4 CHANNEL RECEIVER.
With original inner sleeve AND poster/lyric sheet.

This album has some very strange moments....listening to it you can hear definite Beatlesque influences or is it the Beatles that have definite Beach Boys(esque?) influences in their music??

**In reference to the above album, I have previously owned the VANGUARD produced album,
DYNACO-4 DIMENSIONAL STEREO/DYNAQUAD-DY DEMONSTRATION DISC(SPV-7/1971)
This record conveniently had 2 excerpts, (followed by the complete chorus), of the Hallelujah Chorus (from Handel's Messiah)...the 1st excerpt is in MONO, the 2nd in STEREO and the full chorus is in DYNAQUAD-DY, (4 DIMENSIONAL STEREO)...for excellent comparison!
I listened to these 3 selections in four different quad decoder formats....synthesized QS, QS normal surround, QS hall surround and Matrix(SQ)...to determine both the best setting for the album, and for future reference, since I had never come across a Dynaquad recording before.

My results were:
Matrix(SQ surround)-the rear speakers exploded with sound!...compared to the other three decoder settings.
QS Synthesizer-better than both settings on the QS decoder, but not as good as the Matrix(SQ) setting.
QS(hall surround)-better than normal QS.
QS(normal surround)-the least(worst?) rear speaker definition.

I have also owned a couple of Enoch Light's early Project 3 records in the original EV-4 quad format and I found the quad mix and sound to be much brighter than the same album issued later in the corresponding quad formats of QS or SQ...don't ask me why.
I found that the encoded quad sound is effectively reproduced/enhanced with the SQ decoder....to a lesser degree with the QS decoder.
