The Quartetfo Italianp play Beethoven's early quartets, nos. 1-6, on original 1972 Dutch Philips 3-LP boxed set 6703 081. This is the first of three boxed volumes which comprise the complete Beethoven quarters. For many this is the absolute definitive recording of these pieces, and I don't think any enthusiast for this music would disagree that it is at least a contender. This is one of the great Beethoven recordings of all time.
And this copy is MINT. Never played. When I opened it the foam padding on top of the records was so old it crumbled to dust. Obviously it was never touched. I photographed the foam but I had to throw it away. I took only the first disc out and it is of course perfectly mint and untouched. This is a beautiful and perfect copy. Impossible to beat.
