QUATERMASS – Quatermass. Music On Vinyl MOVLP 2315. Netherlands release. SEALED NEW VINYL RECORD ALBUM. Originally issued in 1970 on the UK Harvest label. This edition issued in 2019. Pressed on 180g audiophile vinyl. Comes in a gatefold cover housed in a clear outer resealable poly sleeve with flap and hype sticker upper right corner, as shipped by the label. MEMBERS: John Gustafson (bass, vocals), Pete Robinson (keyboards), and Mick Underwood (drums).

DESCRIPTION: Progressive rock trio Quartermass formed in 1969, comprising bassist/vocalist John Gustafson, keyboardist Pete Robinson, and drummer Mick Underwood. Underwood had previously spent time with Ritchie Blackmore in his pre-Deep Purple band, Episode Six and in the Outlaws, in addition to cutting his teeth with Shadows bassist Jet Harris and an early incarnation of the Herd; Gustafson had a background in the Merseybeats and the Big Three. Quartermass issued their lone album on Harvest in 1970. The band took its name from Professor Bernard Quatermass, a fictional scientist who had been the hero of three science fiction serials produced by BBC Television in the 1950s (a little on-line searching should turn up some episodes for viewing. Despite being regarded as a fine release, some great progressive rock excursions, by the label, it didn't do much commercially, and the group broke up by the end of the following year. Underwood later joined Strapps, another Harvest act that enjoyed a longer lifespan. Both he and Gustafson eventually played with Ian Gillan at separate times, and Gustafson also went on to play with Baltik (1973, one self-titled album, featuring Janne Schaffer on guitar) and on the third, fourth, and fifth Roxy Music albums. Robinson remained busy as a session musician and played with Suntreader (a band worth checking out).

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers with inside packing.

MIX: This sometimes appears in my title line and refers to a group's/artist's music having a mix of styles such a rock track with jazz then followed by a straight rock track followed by a psych rock track, etc., as opposed to a blues album with the album's tracks having predominantly one style.

$4.90 via USPS Media Mail for the first single LP or double disc LP set (excluding box sets); this also includes tracking. Check your eBay Purchases folder for tracking and shipping information.
$1.25 for each additional single LP set and/or
$1.50 for each additional double LP set.
All US packages are processed for shipping via eBay and include a tracking number. Check your purchases folder to monitor your tracking.
