From 1959 to 1962, tenor saxophonist Ike Quebec came back to Blue Note after a decade away, first recording and scouting talent in the 1940s before personal setbacks sidelined him. However, Alfred Lion reintroduced Quebec with a series of 45 jukebox singles, rediscovering a full-bodied, relaxed tone, equally at home on blues, ballads, and standards.
