From 1959 to 1962, tenor saxophonist Ike Quebec came back to Blue Note after a decade away, first recording and scouting talent in the 1940s before personal setbacks sidelined him. However, Alfred Lion reintroduced Quebec with a series of 45 jukebox singles, rediscovering a full-bodied, relaxed tone, equally at home on blues, ballads, and standards. The Complete Blue Note 45 Sessions Of Ike Quebec gathers these pivotal recordings across three LPs, tracing four studio sessions with a rotating cast of musicians, including classics like 'A Light Reprieve', 'Blue Monday', and 'Everything Happens To Me' in both short and extended forms. This expanded edition presents Quebec's comeback as a defining moment in Blue Note history, offering a portrait of a saxophonist at the height of his expressive and technical powers.
