A Day At The Races 1U/1U

This is another final upgrade, archive copy I am selling.  This first pressing has been hardly played and plays with astounding quality throughout.  There are also only two stampers on each label confirming it as one of the earlier first 1U/1U pressings.

  It doesn't get much better than this!  I would say this has only been played once, maybe twice as there is practically no spindle wear.  All I can detect is one mega small trace on the S2 label.  The vinyl itself is beautifully clean with no hairlines or scratches and has a stunning glossy sheen to match.  It looks as new it is that good!  The run out grooves are also in superb shape with no marking.  An absolute stunner!

Play grading

The intro on 'Tie Tour Mother Down' has barely any static and then plays with fantastic power and a complete lack of distortion.  Wow!  I don't think I have heard a better version, the strength and clarity is just stunning.  There is no interference and to think this is a 1U/1U pressing!  As anyone knows the quiet 'You Take My Breath Away' is often beset with sound issues but here it plays very impressively with only a minimal amount of static on the intro and one click in the middle section.  Aside from that it plays with great clarity and is one of the 'cleanest' I have heard in a long time and the majority of plays with Near Mint quality.  The remaining tracks play with stunning precision and even the mega quiet sections on 'The Millionaire Waltz' play so clearly with a minimum of static.  A stunning version.

'Somebody To Love' is sheer audio perfection from beginning to end.  I only heard one dust tick, the sound quality on this classic is quite simply mind-blowing!  The quiet intro on 'White Man' has the same stunning quality and the remainder plays in exactly the same way with only a handful of non-intrusive dust ticks on the quiet end section.  Thus far I am just so impressed with the audio on this side and whilst it is a bold statement to make I am confident in saying it plays practically 'as new'.  The clarity and definition of each note is of the highest standard possible.  'Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy' is Mint- without a doubt as are the final two tracks.  'Let Us Cling Together' in particular plays with a clarity and 'freshness' that is rarely heard today on these 1U/1U first pressings.  The odd mega light dust tick (and that is being harsh!) but this is a magnificent version and there are no clicks or pops and certainly no crackle or jumps.  100% absolutely stunning!  Even the extended fade out plays in sublime fashion.

In summary the audio on this first pressing has a minimal amount of non-intrusive 'background' and indeed the vast majority of it is of Mint- standard.  With only two stampers on each side it is also a very early first pressing and I know will add to any 'high end' collection.

Gatefold Cover

Notoriously difficult to keep clean this gatefold has maintained its original look very well.  The edges have only a few minor rub marks and there is only a small amount of corner wear.  The wide spine has the usual crease lines caused by the gatefold being opened but is otherwise in great condition with only one small 'ding'.  The front and back cover are extremely clean with only a couple of white spot marks and a handful of minor scratch marks on the latter.  There are a couple of obvious creases on the front near the spine but this is the only obvious wear on the front cover really.  The inside is in wonderful condition with only one tiny mark and the opening edge has no handling wear at all.  Overall this cover remains in excellent condition and is one of the cleanest I have seen in a long while.  It isn't perfect but it is an excellent example nonetheless and not wrecked like so many!

This is near perfect with no splits and only the slightest of ringwear and a couple of very small creases.  A superb example.

The labels

They have no marking or writing and only one tiny spindle trace on S2.
