Description
This audio on this 1U/1U first press of A Day at the Races is of a very high quality. Visually it is in superb order and looks hardly played and is certainly one of the best first presses I have seen in a long time. It retains that wonderful glossy sheen of new vinyl and is a superb example of this classic LP.
It begins with very faint lead in static but soon disappears. 'Tie Your Mother Down' plays with very clear audio and no interference. 'You Take My Breath Away' is stunning with only the faintest of static and plays with fantastic clarity. This continues and the quiet sections during 'The Millionaire Waltz' are exactly that, quiet! Wonderful sound quality.
Side Two continues in the same vein. It plays superbly with only the slightest hint of intermittent static. I cannot stress how good the audio is. For almost 40 years old it is so clear and sounds almost like new. No clicks or pops there is no spindle wear on the labels confirming it has been barely played. Again all the quiet sections play superbly. A stunning first press that anyone would be pleased to own.
The Garrad and Lofthouse gatefold cover is in excellent condition for its age. This cover is notoriously found in poor condition but this one has been very well cared for. Yes there is a little shelf wear around the edges and a few small creases but overall is in excellent shape especially for a first pressing. The inside of the gatefold is very clean.
