Queen : At The Beeb A1 / B1 1st Press 1989

This first pressing plays with stunning quality with barely any background.  There is only minimal light static for a few seconds on 'Doin' Alright' but even that is not intrusive.  The clarity, power and definition of the audio is incredible and it is clear the vinyl has hardly been played.

The cover is superb!  I am confident in saying it is 'as new' with zero wear and the original inner sleeve has only minimal creasing.

Visual description

This vinyl is in lovely condition and still has a stunning glossy sheen with no obvious marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can only see a small number of very faint hairlines and one tiny blemish on S1 but this has no affect on the audio.  There is only one small barely visible spindle trace on each label and the S1 label still has some vinyl 'flecking' around it showing that it has been hardly played.

Play grading

The intro on 'My Fairy King' has background and neither has Roger's first scream!  Freddie's opening vocal section is perfect and from then on it plays so clearly with no interference.  During the quieter vocal near the end I only 'heard' a couple of mega quiet statics and then the closing section has no intrusion at all.  This is still worthy of a Mint grade as the playback is stunning from start to finish.

The unmistakeable intro on 'Keep Yourself Alive' has no intrusion and the opening vocal is equal to that.  It continues to play to the highest standard possible with nothing to detract from the audio.  Tremendous power and clarity through every section and Mint is again deserved.

The piano intro on 'Doin' Alright' plays with sublime clarity, just one second of light static, and the opening vocal section plays to perfection.  The quiet Should be waiting for the sun vocal is so clean with only three minor statics and the following high octane section could not play any better.  Roger sings the next verse and again there is no intrusion and the remainder is just as impressive, just a couple of minor statics prior to the final powerful section and a touch of light static on the fade out.  I think Near Mint- is a fair assessment of the audio here.

The classic 'Liar' plays with supreme quality from the get go.  The entire intro is flawless, the sonic quality is stunning, and the first verse / chorus is just as strong and clear.  Just from listening to this you really get a sense of how good the early Queen live performances were just how unique Freddie's voice was.  Every section is so impressive and nowhere more so than during the Momma I'm gonna be your slave vocal section.  The following instrumental section and 'choral' section is phenomenal!  A STUNNING version that is Mint- at the very least.

S2 was of course recorded at the BBC later in '73 and it definitely has a different sonic sound, a more raw quality you could say.  Still just as good though!  'Ogre Battle' is a fine example of that and plays with great power throughout and... no interference.  It has to grade as Mint

The progressive 'Great King Rat' is of the same standard and again there is no intrusion across the entire 6 minutes.  Stunning work from Brian as per usual, such a strong element of their early sound.  Mint

'Modern Times Rock 'N' Roll' rocks out loud and true with impeccable power and definition and zero distortion.  Roger's vocal is very high in the mix and is a superb version.  Mint again.

This 'live' version of 'Son And Daughter' is very different to the studio version and it plays with outstanding quality through every vocal and instrumental section.  In the middle it features some of the guitar work from 'Brighton Rock' and it plays with stunning precision.  This passage lasts for over 1.30 minutes and also has some great work from Roger also.  The end vocal / instrumental has no background and this is easily a Mint version.  A very 'raw' but that is very much a part of the charm of this album.

The Cover & Lyric Inner

The cover is in beautiful condition and I cannot find one single fault.  I have inspected it from every angle and there is just no wear to be seen.  The edges, spine and corners are perfect and the front and back cover are totally unmarked.  It has also retained it original shape and structure perfectly.  Superb!

The original plain white inner has no marking or splits and only minor creasing.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
