RARE original EMI Records very first STEREO press released in Chile in 1980 by EMI ODEON CHILENA S.A. Records, catalog number 5257 and matrix numbers: EMC-3351 A in Side 1 and EMC-3351 B in Side 2, with red/orange-brown labels.

“FLASH GORDON” was originally released in 1980 by EMI Records in Europe and in 1981 by Elektra Records in USA. The same year it was released in the UK, 1980, we got this album released in Chile and like in so many cases of the period we got an UNIQUE cover. Cover is UNIQUE, made of 2 single pieces of cardboard, with full laminated front and back cover, keeping the same original artwork and front cover pasted on the flips, with catalog number and EMI logo in upper right corner of back cover. At the bottom right corner is written “Marca Registrada, Fabricado por EMI ODEON CHILENA S.A. Santiago -Chile” (“Trademark, Made by EMI ODEON CHILENA S.A. Santiago - Chile”). YES, this is A GREAT FIND for all Queen fans and collectors, A MUST TO HAVE, specially in this great condition. Front cover keeps the same original artwork but back cover is orange-tinted with tracklist in English only at the bottom left corner. It’s interesting to see that in back cover the sides are identified as “Side One” and “Side Two”, but in labels they are identified as “A” and “B”. In labels the tracklist is also in English only.

The cover was already described and it’s in VG+ or EX- condition for both sides, clean, complete, no marks or names written, only very light ring marks, some minimal wear at the mouth edge and corners, more evident in the bottom left corner. The record is in strong EX or EX+ condition, glossy, clean, only with some scuffs and light scratches hard to see, which don’t affect play. In Side 1 in the first track it’s something like a spot, maybe a factory imperfection, but doesn’t affect sound. Labels are in NM or NM+ condition, clean and clear both sides, absolutely free of marks. The sound is far the best part, it’s incredibly good, it’s in EX+ or NM- condition in the Side 1, loud, clear and clean, with only 4 light pops in the first track. After that it’s perfect. Side 2 is in NM- or NM condition, with only 1 pop I could hear. In both sides no background noise at all (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), no crackles, stunning audio!!! Overall, this record is in superb condition with a very nice cover and an amazing sound quality after more than 30 years, with no distortions, no skips, no repetitions at all!!! Stunning audio quality!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

SHIPPING (Packing and Postage)

We have an unique value worldwide: 

GBP15 for weight until 1kg (usually 1 or 2 records 12" depending of thickness of the vinyl)

GBP25 for weight 1-2kg (usually 3-5 records 12")

GBP7 for one 7” record

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
